All the members were present. The min­ utes of the previous meeting were adopted as read. The Council be- organized as & Court of Revis­ion on the • North Branch of the Wack Creek Drain. Only one ap- peal was considered. The appeal of J, M. Richardson, was disposed of as follows: The as­ sessment on South half Lot 25, con. ■&., be struck out and the assessment on North half Lot 24, Com 5 be listed at $2.3,70, And as no other appeals had been received the Court <»£ Revision be closed. The Clerk 'Was then authorized to advertise for lenders, same to be opened on Sat­ urday, May 17th, at 7.30 o’clock p.m. The Council then resumed the srder of regular business and,’ the following resolutions were passed,. That the plan of hot SO, L.R.W. Con., Township oh Hay, G, Turn­ bull, owner, -be approved by the Council of the Township of Hay and the Reeve and Clerk be 'authorized to sign the same. . That four pay'stations be install­ ed at places to be chosen at Grand Bend, and that two telephone booths be purchased from the Bell Tele­ phone Company for use' in the vil­ lage,. . V . » That the contract of constructing the West Branch Drain he awarded to J. Reid at the price of .$3995.00 for completion of wobk. Drain to be completed on or before October’ 15th 3.930. That the contract for constructing the Wildfong Drain be awarded to Murray & Nicholson at the price of $3923.50 for completing the Main Drain and Branch No. 1, and to Fred Corbett and George Armstrong for $750.50 for constructing Branch No. 2. Work to he completed on nr be­ fore October 15tli, 1930. That By-law No. 10, 1930, con­ firming the appointment of L. Schu­ macher as Weed Inspector be read three times and finally passed. That By-Law No. 11, 19.30 relat­ ing to Nprtli Branch of Black Creek Drain be read third time and fin­ally passed. Mr. John Willis, of Exeter, shipp­ ed a number of fat cattle to Eng­ land yesterday. Mr. Geo. Dyer has gone to Musk- oka to spend the summer in fishing and shooting, On Monday evening the tenders for watering the streets were open­ ed at the Market House. Mr, Jas. Oke’s the lowest, $14.00 per week, he was awarded the contract. Mr: P, Drew brought into the Times office a dandelion which measured over three feet. On Tuesday last a number of fat cattle were sold in this neighbor­ hood for the Liverpool market. As usual |Mr, James Pickard stood at the head' of the stock raisers. He sold four for which he -rceived $500; a -Shorthorn bull four years old and weighing 2,800 pounds, he is con­ sidered the heaviest in the country at that age. A steer weighed 2,- 040, aged only four years; a heifer 1,740 and an ox 1740 making a to­ tal weight' of 8220 pounds. On Monday evening last three voting men, Oliver Johnson, William Weekes and Charles Sproal, met with a ducking in the Aux Sable'River when their boat upset. Pulman & Hamilton’s Circus vis­ ited Exeter -on Tuesday last and gave performances in the afternoon and evening. In a letter received from Mr. R. Luker, Ju the North West' Territory he gives some prices of feed in the Wetsr. Flour is five dollars per hundred, bacon 17c. per pound, beef 12 to 14c. per pound, venison, 10c. per pound, wheat $1.30, oats $1.00, barley $1.25 per bushel. Hardware is also very high, stovepipes at Ra­ pid City are 40c. per length, nails 10c. and upwards. Rapid City is in the nicest place in the West. There are 70 dwellings, 6 stores, 2 black­ smith shops, post office, hardware store, saw mill, grist mill and school house. In a piece in the Huron Ex­ positor on the question of the North­ west Railroad the gentleman thinks there is little use -of a' railroad up here. He ■ also says there won’t be anything for it to do for years to come. Dakota, after an absence of eleven years is renewing acquaintances in town the guest of his brothers, Messrs. H. E. and W. C. Huston, Mr. Geo. Kernick very pleasantly entertained a large number of- his relatives and friends at the home of his neice Mrs. A. ,'Sheere on Fri­ day night. Mr. Kernick and his daughter left, the next morning for Guelph to visit'for -a,few days prior to returning to Par-ry Sound. In June Mr. Kernick intends returning to California. At a special, school meeting of the ratepayers of S. S. No. 5, Crediton, held in the school house it was de­ cided to build a new school house. Mr. Robert Willis, of (Marlette, Mich., was here visiting relatives at' liis home .in London. Mr. Chas. Down has completed liis second year of his ministerial studies in Toronto and is at liis home here. Mr. Herbert Gregory is honie from Osgoode Hall and is again with Gladman & Stanburv. Mrs. Wm. -Skinner, of, Usborne. is progressing nicely.after an accident in which she fell and’cut a nasty gash in her head.. On Thursday last when in an auto near Ailsa Craig four Exeter men, Messrs. N. Stanlake, C. HfeyWood, A. Moord. and A. Hastings had an un­ pleasant experience. Mr. * Stanlake was driving and when crossing a con­ cession south of Craig the machine struck a high ridge of gravel, the car twisted completely around and unset.
