The annual supper and entertain
-
:Lent in connection with Caven Pres-
byterian Sunday School was .held on
Thursday evening last and is spite
of the bac' roads and weather, there,
was a large turn -out. After ;tea, in-
stead of the program of songs ,and.
recitations customary in other years,
two series of colored slides were sub-
stituted. An 'opening 'chorus and
•ego to greet Santa Claus, together.
With .a duet by Margaret Campbell
and Elaine .Stanbury were the only
yocai selections. • *The orchestra how-
ever not only played during the sup-
per but furnished several excellent
numbers, in the program. A very
Pleasant feature or the evening was
the presentation to Miss Coates of a
leather week -end bag on behalf of
the' Sunday School. The gift was
made by Misses Patsy Russell and
Margaret Campbell and the superin-
tendent spoke of faithful and accept-
able service of Miss Coates as pian-
ist and teacher.

The Sunday School of the James
'Street .tlnited •Church held their an-
tarsi ..Christmas entertainment Ou.
Monday evening the program being
chiefly put on by members of the
primary department. A large rail-
eel platform was erected on which
was a beautifully decorated Christ-
mas' Tree. Members of the inter-
mediate ttepartrtient sang several
(themes as slid 'also the primary but
the biggest part of the program was
made up with songs and. readings ,by
the little font and their numbers
were very amusing and entertaitl-
ing. There were 'about thirty-five
numbers in all, this ')art of the pro-
gram lasting about an hour, Fol: -
lowing the recitations and solos 1dr.
McTavish told. Dickenys story et
"Scrooge" illustrated) by beautifully
colored pictures. At. about a quar-
ter to ten. Santa Glatt, (*Awed on
the scene and some of the children
were delighted to repeat their nutil-
bers for Santa, after which he -distri;,
buted the stockings stutonlg the little
