DISLOCATED SHOULDER
Mr. Bert Doyle had the niister-
tune to dislocate his shoulder on Fri-
day of last week. • They were mov-
ing some cars at •the garage when
one of them rammed Mr. Doyle
against the wall dislocating his
shoulder. Ile is now carrying his
arm in a sling.

The remains of the late David
Parkinson Who 'died in Florida ar-
rived in Exeter on Sunday, Mr. R.
N. Rowe going to London .for sante.
The funeral was held on Mondey in-

The municipal council met in the
`Town Hall. Members all present
The Reeve's chair being vacant pet
motion of Rivers and Bierling, coun-
cillor Francis was appointed chair-
man.

November 25th were read and ap-
preved,
The following list of letters were
read:

and accepted on .notion of Rivers
and Bierling.
Mrs. Ada Down was allowed a re-
bate on Business Tax for the half
year, business having been closed
out July let; amount of rebate $11.

The Clerk was instructed to pre-
pare a letter of condolence and for-

MRS. J. E. McGILLICUDDY
DIES IN LONDON
,After an illness of many months
death on Friday morning; last claim-
ed Mrs. Eliztaboth McGillicuddy, wife
of Dr. J. E. McGillicuddy, of London,
a former resident of Exeter. Dr.
and Mrs. McGillicuddy left Exeter
more than ten year ago for London.
Mrs. McGillicuddy was a graduate
of Victoria Hospital where she grad-
uated in 1906. In 1910 she was
united in marriage to Dr. :McGilli-
cuddy, then practicing in Exeter.
They resided in Exeter about nine
years where the deceased made many
friends. The deceased was born at
Fingal in West Lorne Township, the
daughter of the late Richard Mc-
Queen. Besides her husband, she is
survived by her mother, and three
sisters, Mrs. Dan McKillop, West
Lorne; Mrs. L. Ludy, Windsor and
Mrs. Phillip McDonald, Edmonton,
Xlta. One child born in 1912 died
in infancy. The funeral was held on
Sunday afternoon to Woodland cem-
etery.

Pelee Island opened to -day. Pilot
Fitton, of London air transport, is
in .charge of the plane. About 10
tons of mail and express piled up at
the Leamington post office during
the past week Will keep him going
for a few days, as ho can carry only
300 pounds at a time. Several ,trips
a day will be made, ---London Free
Press. Pilot :Fitton visited his par-
ents la Exeter on Saturday prior to

SANTA MAKS FI; ND
At a meeting of the executive of
the Chamber of Commerce held in
the office of time manager of the
Canadian Bank of Commerce Satur-
day evening„it was decided to again
sponsor a Santa Claus Fund to ad-
minister Christmas .Cheer throughout
the village on Christmas' eve. The
Exeter Chamber of Conlmerce
through. an efficient 'committee of
ladies.. representing the various
churches of Exeter, have undertaken
for the past, two years to see that no
children in our village are . missed
at the Christmas season and that in
cases of need those needs should be
met. The public have always :given
a liberal response. Subscriptions.

Mr. Wm, Pethick has disposed of
Isis gas station in Exeter North to.
Mr. Leslie Gibson, of Denfield. Mr-
Pethick came to Exeter two years age
from Seaforth and built an attractive

SEVERED IN ACCIDENT
Centralia and community were
shocked on Saturday afternoon last

his place for a few minutes while he
went to the engine room. Mar. Smith
thinking he was an unusually long
time made. an investigation and found

Dr. Fletcher of Exeter was called
and was on the scene in a few min-
utes and the doctor and. Mr. Sunith
made a fast' trip to London in fo'r'ty
five minutes. In the meantime Dr,"
Busby,, of London had been eommun
cated with an in a remarkably 'short
time after the accident Kenneth was
on the operating table in St. Joseph's
Hospital. It was found necessary to
amputate the arm just below the
shoulder.
Just what happened when. Ken-
neth went to the basement is not
known but it is believed that he was
caught in a revolving shaft •over
which a loose pulley lay. Besides
the loss of his right arm he was cut
about the right eye. From the lat-
est reports the patient is resting
comfortably and doing as well as can
be expected. His mother is at his
bedside and expects to remain
through the crisis. Much sympathy
is felt for ?Jr. and Mrs. Simpson and
Kenneth,
UNDERWENT OPERATION
Mr. Ed. Treble. whip was last week
struck in the oye by a piece of wood
and was removed' to Victoria hos-
pital for treatment underwent an
operation oil the eye Monday even-
ing. When the sticr:, struck the eye
it dislocated the lens and this had
been causing considerable pain. With
the operation it is expected that Mr.
Treble will be able to see even bet-
ter than he could before the acci-
dent as he had had some trouble
with this eye before.

the choir with a delightful banquet.
All the members of the choir were
present and all the trustees except

sent owing to illness. The tables wore

TIE DEATH OF MR. As S. DAVIS
As annuonced last week the death
of Mr. Arthur ,S. Davis took place in
Victoria Hospital, London, on Wec't-
nesday morning and the xemains
brought to Enetern the funeral be-
ing held from `the home on Friday
afternoon. with intertttent in Lfxeter•

11 months. and 29 days. He:. had
been ailing for some time and. Was..`
taken to the hospital about a Week
before his death: 'The deceased was
born in Ashford, Kent, England and
at the age of 28 years came to Can-
ada settling in Exeter. Six years;
later he was united iir marriage to
Ellen' Dearing,' his bereaved widow
who with a family of three sons and
one daughter survive; another dau-
ghter died six years ago and another
son in infancy. Mr. Davis was 4n:
painter and paper -hanger by trade
and was a member of the Anglican
church. In politics he was a Con-
servative. Ia his early life Mr. Davis
did considerable walking and at one
time. while engaged at his work in
Seaforth he and a companion walk-
ed to London to sec a show. The
members of the farntily are Archie,
of Toronto; William of the Times -
Advocate staff; \Irs. Gordon Wolis,
of Windsor and Walter at hone.
Among those who attended the fun-
eral from a distance were: Mr. and
Mrs. Archie Davis and little daugh-
ter, of Toronto; .11Tr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Wells and Caroline, of Windsor:

Wells aro remaining until after
