Community Co-operation
One of the biggest words in business today is co-operation, and
simple as it to say, its accomplishment is a difficult feat. .M:an,
is a predatory animal who arrived through the ages by defeating
his neighbor in the, race for the good things of life. The under-
standing of selfishness and its disastrous effects came slowly with
civilization, and even up to the present time is not entirely univer-
sally recognized, but in business today it is admitted that the one
looking for self .alone is doomed. Your community today points
with pride to its success, and when asked the reason you remark
that it is due to the unselfish ,spirit of its merchants and residents,
one looking after the other's interests. The more prosperous your
merchants are the 'more enriched you bcome—your dollars spent
among them reverts back to you continuously. It enhances real
estate' and is the one thing that creates the desire in others to lo-
cate among you. Community Co-operation is good.. It is necessary.
Don't play alone. Eliminate selfishness from your community by
co_operating with your merchants and all business interests. Buy
in Exeter and keep yourself big in the thought that it is your com-
munity and you are a big factor in making it what it is. Nuf Sed.

Wm. J. Beer is another Exeter boy who. has made good. Mr.
Beer learned the harness -making with Mr. George Eacrett at a
time when there were three harness shops in Exeter. After work_
ing for a few years as journeyman he bought out Mr. G. Houze and
started into business for himself. This line of business has grad-
ually dwindled until Mr. Beer now has the only harness -making
business in Exeter. Mr. Beer seeing the trend of the harne.s.s busi-
ness branched out into other lines. When 'hydro was introduced
into Exeter he installed electrical fixtures and appliances. He
further added to his stock automobile accessories and' made it a
motto that a customer could only ask for a thing once without
getting it. This led him into tires and batteries. With the ad-
vent of radio Mr. Beer built some of the Thome-made sets and he
placed in stock the parts for making these ;sets. He kept pace
in radio and' is now the leading radio dealer in this section,;haudl-
ing many of the leading lines.

HURONDALE
A surprise party was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Wilk-
inson one evening last week when
the members of the Hurondale W. I.
!net to, bice farewell to them on the
eve of their departure. During the
evening the president, Mrs. R.
Kestle, read an address and Mrs. L.
Oke presented Mrs. Wilkinson with
a club bag. The evening was spent
in games, etc., after which a most
bountiful lunch was served by the
ladies. The following is a copy of
the address: "Dear Mrs. Wilkinson:
Having heard of your departure
from among us in the very near
future, we, the members of the Hu-
'rondale Women's Institute, wish to
show in some measure, the esteem
in which you are held. Your pres-
ence at our meetings has ever been
a source of pleasure and helpfulness
and your cheery smile and ever -
ready willingness to help along will
surely' be missed. It is with deep
regret that we contemplate losing
you as a member, but our loss will
be some others gain. Our sincere
wish is that health. and happiness
may attend you in your new sphere
of life, and we ask you to accept
this this little gift as a reminder of
happy days spent, in the past.
Signed on behalf of Hurondale
Women's Institute."
