friends in London during Exhibition.

Dr. Mary Johnston, who returned
recently from a two months tour of
several eonntries in Western Earope
including' .Scotland, England, Hol-
land, Belgium, Germany, France,
Switzerland and Italy motored up
from Hamilton on Friday for a visit
with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, W.
H,. Johnston. She was accompanied
by Dr. Iia.bel BraY, of Hamilton and
tires brother Albert, of Toronto,
Pilot Gerald Fitton, of Toronto,
Visited Exeter Fair day with an .ae-
roplane and took up a number of
passengers throughout the day, Mr.
Geo. Bennett, parachute jumper ac-
companedt hind and about seven
o"+clock hi the evening took off from
the wings of the ,aeroplane at about
1500. ft in the air landing safely in
a nearby field.
It is 19 years since .this section
suffered as serious a drought as it
has this.season. Nineteen years ago
Mr. -Michael Elford had a well sunk
On his pasture farm in Usborne TP.
and , placed over it a windmill for
supplying ,the water. The windmill
stood for 15 years and as it had not
been needed. inathat .•time a few years
ago Mr. Elford disposed of it. For
the past three weeks Mr. Elford has
been pumping water for the cattle
and will welcome the time when
water is again plentiful.
The last gfrder of.the Ambassador
bridge crossing 'between Windsor
and Detroit was hoisted into posi-
tion on Monday and travel betweeir
the two cities over. the bridge•is now
possible. Much work remains to be
done however on the $20,000,000
International span. December the•
first has been set for .the formal
opening for the traffic. The Am-
bassador bridge is the longest sus-
pension bridge in the world beim
100 feet longer than the Philadel-
phia bridge.
