Willie, after spending his holidays in Exeter, left for his home in Lexington, Mich, Monday morn- ing. Mr. S. P. Hails, formerly teacher' of the ]1limville public school but now ateacher in the Goderich high. school, favored us with a call Friday ?horning. He 1oo1;;s as happy as ever. Rev, George A. Mitchell, B.A., pastor of the Exeter Canada Meth- odist Church, returned from Toronto last week after an absence of about a month. On Friday night last Mr. William Wright, while driving through town lost two wheels off his wagon, The nuts came eft allowing the wheels to run off. Mr. Thos, M. Carling, of the :Man- sion House and Mr. W. J. Armstrong have taken out license for auction- eering in the County of Huron .and the 'Townships of McGiilivray and Biddulph, On Main St., in the vicinity of the maket, on Saturday last 'dr, Richard Marquis, of Usborne, was driving • THE EXETER TIMES.ADVQCATE along with a heavy load of shingles when the tire came off one of the wheels of the wagon. The Wheel which the iron band used to encircle was badly ,broken. A pigeon shooting match took place between the Exeter and Lon- don teams yesterday. Exeter won by the score of 41 to 36. Mr, Thornton Baker, of Centralia, is moving into Mr. Wm. Mitchell's dwelling north of the Creamery, Mr. :Mitchell will leave with his fancily for Brantford to -day, On Monday evening last the mem- bers of the Junior Bible Class of the Jaynes St. Methodist Church assem- bled at the home of their teacher, Mrs. E. Elliott, who is about to leave for Toronto, The class pres- ented to Mrs, Elliott a handsome Bible and Hymn Book. Fred J. Sanders, who left yester- day to commence the drug business with. T: P. Smith, of Elora, was on Tuesday presented with a beautiful black morocco Bible by Rey, R. J. M. Perkins on behalf of the Siruclay 'Scheel of Trivitt Memorial Church in recognition of his faithful .serv- ices in the school for the past ten years, Mr. Sanders also receivecl a. beautiful token of remembrance in. the shape of a handsome pocketbook :rem Mr. J. Grigg,. a fellow -worker in the school, The L. O. L. Excursion to Sarnia and Detroit was well attended on Saturday. On the arrival at Sarnia many secured .tickets to places in Michigan and elsewhere. The excurs- ionists returned on Monday evening,. Among those who attended from town were Messrs. James and 'Win. Creech, W. W. Taman, Dr, Kinsman, James Gould and wife, Mrs. John Rundle and son. 15 YEARS AGO The Exeter Mfg. Counter, in his 93rd year. The late \1'r. Counter came to live on the Sauble Lino about • 18 years ago from Michigan. He was unmarried and made his home with his nephew, llr. Adolph Bedard. Miss Gertrude Schilbe is spending a few days in Toronto taking in the Exhibition. Mr. Andrew Mittleholtz, of Kitch- ener, spent as week visiting his son, Ted Mittleholtz, and other• relatives. • 1Vcr.: and Mrs..' David. Mr. Elmer Hey and sister, of Neb- raska, have returned to their home after visiting here for some time. Mrs. J. J. Schwartz and daughter Eunice have returned'to Detroit and were accompanied by the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fuss. .Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Weselolt, Mr. and Mrs. Win. Thiel and Mr, Elmore Thiel attended the funeral of Mrs. August Weseloh, at Kitchener, the past week. Mr. and Mrs, A. F. Hess and fam- ily and Mrs. Hy. Thiel were week- end visitors with friends at Pt. Elgin Kincardine and Blyth. The,late Chas. Haskett There passed away at his late resi- dence in Clandeboye, Charles Elliot Haskett in his 77th year. He was the son of the Bate Thomas and Jane White Haskett, 16th con. London Tp. and was the youngest of a fam- ily of_. nine children, eight sons and one daughter. His brothers all pre- deceased him. The sister, Mrs. (Dr) lIcAndelss, who is in her 90th year, survives; as does also his widow, formerly Miss Priscilla Roberts, Mr. Haskett, while in failing health for a few years, suffered a stroke which resulted in his death one week later. About twelve years ago he and Mrs. .Haskett retired from the farm and went to Falkirk where they resided for a short while, moving from there to Lucan and thence to Clandeboye. The remains were interred in St. George's cemetery, London Tp. A Vigorous Pioneer One of the oldest living pioneers of Blanshard is Mr. John, Morley, who at 32 years is enjoying rest from ,his labors in the village of Woodham. _lir. )Morley, who was born in London Township, came to Blanshard with his parents at the age of two.. ' He was actively engag- ed in farm work at Whalen. until nine years' ago, when his youngest son, Wilson Morley, took over the homestead. Arr. Morley has een a good citizen,. taking an active inter- est in everything that goes to build up the community. Though he had a very critical illness last winter, he is again enjoying fairly good health. Ripe years and, physicai activity scent to run in the family. Mr. Mor- leY has two sisters living who are older than himself and still enjoying good health. They are Mrs, Geo. Crew, of Leamington, who has reached the 86th mark, and Mrs, W.
