He was taken to Dr, Campbell, of Kirk­ ton, who stitched the wound. The funeral of Mrs. Samuel Mar- riot took place Saturday afternoon to St. Marys cemetery. Mrs. Marriot, who passed away on Thursday, was a well-known resident of the Base Line, Blanshard, and was Mary Ann Bruce before her marriage. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. Mr. Morenz, who is 79 years old, was the oldest man on board the boat and he enjoy­ ed the trip both ways across the At­ lantic not having been sick a single day. He had his. picture taken along with the youngest passenger’ on board, a child about three months old. Tire Dashwood band serenaded him Monday evening following the arrival home. Owing to the numerous requests, the management has been trying to secure “Doc” Whipple and his All- Star Golden Pheasant Orchestra for a return engagement. 'Only one night was available, so Doe and his crowd of music makers, are coming on Tuesday, August 27th for their farewell engagement. Doc Whipple played for a full Week at the Grand Bend Casino in July, and won every­ one by his marvelous interpretations of the latest song hits. His Orches­ tra was considered by far the most popular of the special attractions. McKinney’s Chocolate Dandies, that noted colored orchestra from Detroit, are packing the crowds in at the Casino. Their torrid tunes keep everyone on their toes, and are proving so popular tliat they are being held over until Labor Day. On Monday, August 26tli the famous Fiddlers’ Contest is being held. Fine silver trophies are to be given the .winners, also a prize for the best step-dancer. Everyone is promised a good time in round and square dancing, with McKinney’s Chocolate Dandies evening.
