Ortwein. ’ Miss Isabelle Saundercock under went an operation in the Seaforth Hospital on Tuesday morning last and is doing as well as can be ex pected. Councillor Ortwein reported' that he had secured speed signs and had them erected, one at each end of King street. ’Councillor Sangster reported that his committee has secured a pri'ce for rebuilding the town hall tank and this work would be done immediate ly. The reeve gave a report of the work done at the June session of the County Council .and gave the reason of the extra mill being added to county assessment for this year. He also brought up the matter of tak ing action of getting an extension of paving the road- from Kippen to Hensall. He had taken the matter up With the Minister of Highways but the reply he received was not very encouraging for getting, more work -done this yeaf. The reeve however* asked that a resolution be passed by the council requesting the department if possible to pave the road from Kippen to Exeter and if not to pave from Kippen to Hensall. The Exeter Council are also passing 'a resolution to- this effe'et, A -number- of accounts were pres- ,'ehted ahd' Ordered paid. The' meeting then ’adjourned. The regular meeting of the rondale Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Stanley Mitchell on June 26th with a good attend ance. A discussion arose regarding holding a community Sunday the ar rangement of which was left in the hands of a committee. The ladies decided to hold their annual picnic at Grand Bend on July 31st, the pic nic to take the place of the July meeting. Following the business the ladies enjoyed a solo by Miss Kathleen Strang and a reading by Miss Jean McQueen after’which Rev. Mr. Moorhouse addressed the ladies in a very pleasing manner on the essentials of home-making. A coii- test followed and a very bountiful strawberry supper was served hostess and her assistants. ELIMVILLE ‘ The Sunday School Anniversary services held last Sunday drew large crowds. Rev. Duncan (McTavisli of James St., Exeter being the speaker for the day delivered two Splendid addresses which were rousing and he'lpful. The music was in charge of the >choir assisted' by Mrs. Fred Wright, who sang solos morning and, evening, although greatly handicapp ed with a cold, Mrs, Wright’s- singing was splendid. The male quartette, Messrs. Wm. Johns, Win. Elford, B. Cooper and Alvin Pym sang a num ber in- the morning. The church was beautifully decorated flowers for the occasion. Miss Lorena Johns, of visited at her home here week-end. Misses Joy and Evelyn of st. About two hundred invited guests were present, from Waterloo, Wingham, Exeter, ‘Brussels, Blyth and the im mediate neighborhood. A program was rendered, Mr. B. W. F. Beavers, of Exeter, acting as chairman. After a few introductory remarks by the chairman, at the [strains of the wedding march Mr. Lewis Aidworth escorted his daugh ter Mrs. Bearnes to the platform, erected on the lawn, followed by Mr. Bearnes. The -chairman congratu lated the happy couple on this their fifteenth wedding anniversary, to which Mr. Bearnes made <a suitable reply. The friends -then gave them a sliower of rice as a reminder of their wedding day and continued good wishes.
