OPENING W. O. B. A.
A large number will follow the
ball team-to London, on May 24tli to
s"e‘e- Exeter open the season in the,
AV. O. B. A. The* boys are off to a
real start with a fine- team lined up.
/The boys gb-to London Friday for
the first test of faster ball.. There
are-18 players lined up and the boys
should make a good showing. Mana
ger/ Rivers ’ has toiled night’ after
night under good and bad weather
conditions to whip the boys, into the.
best of shape and he feels sure that
in the 18 players he has a real team,
one’ that the town will stand behind
and will be proud to boost. Every
one of the players is a real prospect
and as good a bunch as can be got
ten together. The players that start
Friday will have to 'be right on the
job all the time as there ttyere will
t^ft-players'-!oF“each posi
tion Vith very little to chose be
tween them. The management has
a problem to know just whom to
start.
Dr. Bill Lawson is in rare form
and is bound to have a great year.
He has taken on. a lot of weight and
sure can breeze the old ball over the
plate. Steve Dundas hasxhad a lot of experience in OAJ.X and will be
a hard man to keep out of the win
ning column. AVith Steve going
right he is a hard man to knock off.
Dutch Meadows is a youngster but a
real find as a curve -ball artist and
should be, heard from before the
season* Is long under way. So much
for tlip,; indund men. At first base
there is Speedy Gascho Who makes a
hard chance look easy and he is good
at the bat. The rest .of the infield
look real. ,
Cy. Tieman, our great little short
stop, will be out of the game for a
Couple of weeks' through sickness.
AAre are sorry to have to start with
out Cy as he sure can cover that
position well.- ’It is hoped that he
may soon be back in the game. Ill’s
place will be looked after, however,
as there ate two mote who can fill
the position, real well.
a. valuable mail. He is a
fielder as well as a real catcher and
can fill in in almost any position.
The outfield
eel after, there

look good with
ting re’ceivers.
See the bills for the opening game
