The ladies provided the baskets and an oyster supper and bountiful repast was served. CYCLONE HOCKEY LEAGUE The Cyclone Hockey League 7th between Hensail and Exeter^ and Kensall. The first game to be played in Exeter will be February 7th bewteen Hensail and Exeter; February 12th Exeter at Hensail; February 14, Exeter at Zurich; Feb ruary 19, Hensall at Zurich;, Febru ary 21, Zurich at Exeter. GREENLAW TO RETURN TO EXETER IN .MARCH At the conclusion or the Monday ev ening concert in James St. Church, it was decided to 'hold two weeks of special services in the church begin ning with March 4th and the ser vices of Mr. Greenlaw have been se cured to sing each evening during those two weeks. The Pastor, Rev. D. McTavish, will be assisted in the services by several of the ministers from the surrounding district. LEFT FOR CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. John W. Taylor, of town, left on Monday for an extend ed visit to California, British Colum bia and Western Canada. They will visit for a tim? with their sons at Los Angeles and also with relatives at San Francisco. On their return they will visit at Vancouver and from there intend taking the boat to Prince Rupert. STRATFORD WINS IN The Stratford Collegiate hockey sextette won from the Exeter High School team in the W.O.S.SvA. league when they won two straight games. The Exeter players went to Stratford on Wednesday of last week and the return game was played- in Exeter Thursday night. While the Exeter players failed to locate the Strat ford nets they put up stiff opposi tion and displayed some fine back- checking but were not effective enough to stop the visitors w*ho have a fast team. The score in Stratford was 9-0 and in Exeter 4-0. HIGH HONORS IN MUSIC Miss Dorothy Grassick was award ed high marks of distinction in 'her graduation exercises last week by Dr. Smith examiner for the London College of Music, England. She was formerly a pupil of Miss Lammie, of Hensail, but since residing in Exeter the past’ three years has studied un der the tuition of Mrs. Gambill. enteent’h birthday only in December and the 95 per cent, mark standard qualifies her for the Gold Medal award, which award may be contest ed should another student have been awarded the same percentage stand ing in any other centre in Canada. L. of South Huron held their annual county lodge meeting in Exeter on Tuesday afternoon with County Master Herman Powe, in the chair, There was a good represent ation from the various lodges of the county, 63 being present. It was decided to celebrate the 12th of July at Wingham this year, North and South Huron joining for a big cele bration. An invitation was extend ed through the Exeter Council to celebrate in Exetei* this year hut .the invitation was received too late to consider at this meeting. All busi ness pretaining to the county was dealt with, The election of officers resulted as follows: County Master, Herman Powe,' Centralia; County Deputy Master, E. On Monday evening Mr. Greenlaw was assisted by his talented wife, as elocutionist.’ At th© Sunday morning service Mr. Greenlaw sang two solos at one of the most impressive services that has been held in Janies St. for some time. There was an excellent con gregation present and in addition to the splendid inspiration, from Mr. Greenlawfs singing the Pastor, Rev. D. McTavish, excelled himself in the pulpit and delivered a very inspiring sermon, In the evenng the church was' practically filled there being only a few vacant seats. Mr, Green law sang -three numbers and the pas tor again delivered an eloquent ser mon. On Monday evening a grand con cert was held in the church, Mr, Greenlaw was ably * assisted by Mrs. Greenlaw,- whose readings and in terpretations greatly delighted the largo audience. Mr. Greenlaw sang several group numbers and his rich baritone voice never failed to capti vate his heaters .and ho was heartily applauded. Mr. W«, tL Gohlding, organist o£ the church, accompanied Mr. Greenlaw on the piano and in addition rendered several numbers that w© well received.
