He was in Lon­ don a few days ago for consultation and was informed that owing to the influenza epidemic only emergency cases were being admitted to the hospital at present. STAFF The old Board of Education Monday evening at the office of the Secretary, Miss’K. MacFaul, to wind up any business of the old’ year. At this meeting the resignation of Miss N. Medd, teacher on the P. Si staff was received and accepted the re­ signation to take effect March the 1st. The resignation is due to ill- health. Miss Mamie Pridham, Russeldale, who is teaching school near Goderich, has been engaged fill the vacancy. met of to FAREWELL AND ANNUAL MEETING Rev. James Foote, B.A., of Caven Presbyterian church preaches his farewell sermons on Sunday next At th© morning service the Sacra- ihent of the Lord’s Supper will be dispensed. On Monday evening the Annual Meeting of the congregation will be held and will tak© the form of a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Foote. The ladies of th© congregation will serve tea at 6 o’clock and the busi­ ness meeting will follow about 7:30. Rivers has through a particularly trying during the- past few months. He was just nicely getting over the effects of a serious illness with pneumonia when he was taken suddenly ill with an acute attack of appendicitis and underwent a very critical operation. We visited Mr. Rivers Sunday after­ noon just 2 weeks after the operation and he was, the brightest and most jovial patient one could wish to see. His rapid recovery is no doubt due in some measure, to the splendid spirit he has maintained throughout. Mr. Rivers returned to his home from Dr. Fletcher’s hospital on Mon­ day. Wilson, ^arkhill, aged 25 years, DEMONSTRATE THE NEW CHEW A demonstration of the new Chev­ rolet with motion pictures was held at Snell Bros, garage Tuesday even-i ing and a great interest was mani­ fest in the new Chev. six being turn­ ed out by General Motors. The new models are a great improvement over the Old and much favorable com­ ment was heard at the demonstration The .demonstration was in charge of Mr. J. A. Ferguson and Mr. Hapley, of Osliawa, who showed motion pic­ tures of a trip across Canada in the new1 Chevrolet and also of the manu­ facture of the engine. The pictures were both interesting and instruc­ tive. The splendid show-room of Snell Bros, was crowded, about two hundred being- present while others were unable to gain admittance. PAST MASTER’S JEWELL At the last meeting of the Orange Lodge, Brother James Foote was presented with a past master’s jewel in appreciation of his service. Motion, per Francis-BieiTing, the Reeve and Treasurer are empower­ ed to borrow the necessary monies required' for Municipal purposes for the year. Carried.
