A pretty wedding was solem-
nized at Fort Garry United Ch-
urch, Winnipeg, when Jean
Margaret 11/It:Lerman, Calgary,
Alberta, became the bride of
Glenn Ross Yungblut, Edinon-
ton, Alberta. The bride is the
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Wil-
liam McLennan, Winnipeg, and
the groom is the son of Mrs,
Ralph. D. Munro, Auburn.
The church was attractively
decorated with bouquets of
chrysanthemums and Christmas
decorations. The Rev. Donald
Ray, minister of Fort Garry
Church officiated, and the spec-
ial music was "0 Perfect Love",
"The Lord's Prayer" and the
"Hebrew Benediction".
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride looked lovely
in a white gown of lace over
taffeta, her shoulder-length veil
of silk illusion was held in
place by a. small crown and
she carried` an old fashioned
bouquet of red roses and shat-
tered carnations. She was at-
tended by her sister, Miss Mary
McLennan, Winnipeg, who wore
a gown of yellow lace over taf-
feta and carried a bouquet of
yellow-gold roses.
The groomsman was Robert
Yungblut, Toronto, brother of
the groom, and the ushers were
James McLennan and Donald
Yunt, Calgary, Alberta.
Following the ceremony a re-
ception was held •at the home
of the bride's brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gord-
on McLennan, Fort Garry,
where the bride's mother re-
ceived in •a gown of printed silk
and wore a corsage of gold ros-
es. She was assisted by the
groom's mother wearing a teal
blue brocaded gown and a cor-
sage' of pink roses.
For a wedding trip to To-
ronto, •and Chicago, the bride
donned a purple wool brocaded
dress, white rabbit's fur hat,
black patent shoes and purse.
On their return they will re-
side at •Edmonton, Alberta.
Guests from a distance were
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph D. Munro,
Auburn; Robert Yungblut, To-
ronto; Miss A. Jones, Calgary
and D. Yunt, Calgary.
The groom is a graduate of
Queens University and the
bride is a graduate of the Uni-
versity of Manitoba at Winni-
peg. The groom is well known
in this community having lived
here until he graduated from
the Goderich District Collegiate
Institute.
Mr, a n d Mrs, William
Straughan celebrated their 50th
anniversary of their wedding
last week by holding open house
at their home on Goderich
Street in the village of Auburn,
Over 100 guests signed the reg-
ister and were welcomed by
their daughters, Mrs. Thomas
Jardin, Wingham; Mrs. Clay-
ton Robertson, Copper Cliff and
Mrs. Straughan's cousin, Mrs.
Earl Allison, Goderich.
The lovely home was beauti-
fully decorated with bouquets
of golden chrysanthemums, ros-
es and appropriate Christmas
decorations.
The bride and groom of 50
years received several tele-
grams of congratulations, am-
ong them being one from the
Governor-General and Madame
Vanier, one from the Province
of Ontario and several from
friends. Bouquets of flowers
and many cards were also re-
ceived from relatives and
friends unable to be present
for this occasion, '
The guests were served tea
by Mrs. Jardin, Mrs. Robertson
and Mrs, Allison and they were
assisted in the kitchen by Mrs.
Ed, Davies and Mrs. Robert J.
Phillips. Guests were present
from Goderich, Blyth, Londes-
boro, Wingham, Benmiller and
the surrounding district.

lowing their marriage ceremony
they left on the CPR train
for Goderich where they went
to have their wedding pictures
taken as was the custom in
those days. Mrs. Straughan
was formerly Elva Stoneham,
the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Stoneham, Clin-
ton and Mr. Straughan is the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Straughan.
Following their wedding trip
they took up residence on the
family homestead on the second
line of East Wawanosh where
they farmed for many years.
They sold their farm to their
son-in-law, Thomas Jardin and
moved to .Goclerich where they
resided for six years. Thirteen
years ago they bought the con-
tinuation school which had been
the Lutheran Church and re-
modelled it into their beautiful
modern home.
Mr. and Mrs. Straughan have
a family of two daughters,
Mrs. •Clayton (Annie) Robert-
son, Copper Cliff and Mrs.
Thomas (Ruth) Jardin, Wing-
ham, also a nephew, Jack Ben-
nett, Ridgetown, who made his
home with them for many
years, and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Straughan has two sisters,
Mrs. Mabel Williams, Clinton,
and Mrs. Jean Mayhew, Toron-
to.
They are •both members of
Knox United Church where Mr.
Straughan is at present the
clerk of session. He was church
treasurer for over 30 years, a
member of the Board of Stew-
ards, Sunday School superinten-
dent and a teacher in the Sun-
day School. Mrs. Straughan is
a member of the WMS and the
WA and the Auburn Women's
Institute.
They are both members of
the Horticultural Society and
their home and grounds is al-
ways a picture of beautiful
flowers from early spring to
fall. Mr. Straughan delights in
calling on the elderly folk in
the village and before he left
to spend Christmas at Copper
Cliff wished them all a Merry
Christmas.
A few days previous to this
celebration a family dinner was
held when Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Reick and Sandra, and
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Reick, all
of Kitchener, joined Mr. and
Mrs. Straughan with their
daughters and their families.

Clinton and area is assured
of a musical highlight on. Feb-
ruary 2 when Ruhinoff and his
violin, internationally famed
popular concert artist, appears
in the CDc,I Auditorium, under
the sponsorship of the Clinton
Lions Club. Herb Bridle, pres-
ident has announced this event.
"We feel indeed fortunate
in being able to bring such a
great artist to Clinton," Said Mr, Bridle, "and we expect this
will be one of the outstanding
events of the season."
Pointing out that special com-
mittees and ticket selling lo-
cations would be announced
soon, the local chairman urged
all organization members' (and
others interested in civic bet-
terment) to join in making the
concert a huge success.

Mrs. F. Bender
A well-known resident of
Zurich for many years, Mrs.
Fanny Bender passed away in
St. Mary's Hospital, London, on
Monday, December 18, in her
72nd year. She had been in
failing health for the past
couple of years. .
Born, in Hay Township on
June 10, 1890, Mrs. Bender was
the former Fanny Cecile Kip-
per, a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Leano Kipper. Her
husband, Herbert Bender, pre-
deceased her some years ago.
Surviving are three sisters,
Mrs. Susie Bosnell, Saskatoon;
Mrs. Julie Fulton, Edmonton;
and (Mary) Mrs. Percy Weston,
Bayfield. One brother, John,
died about a year ago.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home, Zurich, until
Thursday morning, December
21, when Requiem Mass was
sung at St, Boniface Church, by
Father C. A. Doyle. Interment
was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Albert Glazier
Funeral service was conduct-
ed on Sunday, December 24
from the Beattie funeral home,
55 Rattenbury Street East,
Clinton, for Mrs. Albert Glazier
who passed away on Friday, in
Hullett Township, in her 85th
year.
Pall-bearers were Mervin
Glazier, Edward Layton, Art
and Gordon Guymer, Fred and
Jack VanEgmond. Flower-bear-
ers were Douglas Layton, 13111
Speake, Willis VanEgmond and
Herb Glazier. Interment was in
Clinton Cemetery.
The Rev. Grant L. Mills, On-
tario Street United Church, of-
ficiated and Mrs. J. W. Van-
Egmond sang "Beyond the Sun-
set".
Born on August 26, 1877, at
Newmarket, Mrs. Glazier was
the former Amelia B. Dyer,
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Dyer. She mar-
ried Albert James Glazier on
June 6, 1906, who passed away
in March, 1956.
Surviving is one son, Wilfred,
at home, and one daughter, Mrs.
W. S. (Betty) Hill, living in
England.
