Mr. Moffat was a member of the session of Br- ucefieid United Church and chairman- of Baird's Cemetery Board. Surviving is one eon, John F. at home; one daughter, Mrs. James (Lois) Streifler, Downey California, and one grand- daughter, Carol Anne Streifler, Downey, Calif. One brother Peter Bryd'en pre-deceased him. Clinton district Collegiate Institute last Week hired Richard Harland as shop director for the school, Mr. Harland ie. now on staff of the Cornwall Collegi- ate Institute and Vocational School as a drafting instructor, Mr. Harland has had a wide range of experience in trades, and eight years in teaching, neither is he a stranger to this area,. having worked Gode- rich, and. in St, Marys, Born in England, Mr, liar- land came to Ontario 13 years ago, He is married and they have three children. He has basic practical ex- perience In machine shop, weld- ing, sheet metal, fitting and instrument making; has had courses in building construc- tion and the history of archi- tecture. Mr. Harland served 14 years in England and Canada as a 47.4ftsr0414, designer and eSti- Mat-W, His work has include:7. precision mechanical design with the British Air Ministry; mechanical electrical design with Marconi's Wireless Tele- graph. Then his full time services will commence from September 1, 1962. The hope is that the school will be ready for operation by September 1, All possible speed will be urged upon the architects, and upon the -build- ers when the time for building comes. Taesday, Pup- ils from other district high school also attended, The program was arranged jointly by the 'university and the school guidance counsellors, The morning program included an official welcome by Dr, a', G, Hagey, president of the un- iversity, and a panel discussion by university students en the problems of high school to un- iversity adjustment. During the noon hour, the visitors ate lunch in the univer- sity cafeteria and separated in- to small groups to visit the buildings and see the campus of this expanding university, es. corted by a student host. After hearing an address by Dr. T, G. Batke, academic vice- president, each person attended his choice of three .discussion- lectures with faculty members, Activities concluded • at 3.30 p.m. This program allowed the students to gain much useful information about that often unfamiliar place: . university. Guest speaker was Warrant Of- ficer Ted Davies from RCAF Station Clinton, Mr. DaVies had a tour of duty overseas, and while there had, taken a trip into' Spain, making numerous. photos of this trip. The colour slides Mr, Davies showed, started with view of a small, mountain, village in the Pyrenees and ended at a beach near the city of Barcelona. In between there were numerous slides' of the vegetation, 'town market places, people who did not like their pictures taken, and people who did. The members of the Geog- raphy Club deeply appreciated the beautiful slides and hoped that meetings of such interest would 'continue. 0 W.M.S. and W.A. of St Andrew's Christmas Event T h e Women's' Missionary Society and the Women's As- sociation of St. Andrew's Pres- byterian Church met for their Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. A. Dunbar. The theme of the meeting being, "The Road to Bethlehem". Hymn 174 was sung followed by re- sponsive reading Luke 2: 1-17, Minutes of last meeting and treasurer's report were accept- ed as read. Last year she was a teacher hr Port Colborne High School. This year she teaches history to Grades nine and 11 and girls' physical education to Grades nine and 12, During her leisure, she en-joys 'badminton and, bowling. Besides -these more active in- terests, Miss Boyd also collects classical records and is an ar- dent seamstress, If we were to name her most prized' possession, we would suggest the shiny, new diamond which is quite notice- able on her left hand.
