, High in the Steeple"
was very sweetly sung by the
whole school. The primary class
gave a recitation in uniSon, cal
led "The child Jesus". The song
"Who made the Stars" had lov-
ely harmony, Every year this
concert is refreshingly differ-
ent slue to innovations.
The children all picked up
their chairs and moved off st-
age in line singing "Into Our
Hearts," which they sing each
Sunday as they move to their
classes, like a well ordered kin-
dergarten.
The Juniors sang the, lovely
old song "Star of the East"
with Miss Sandra Middleton at
the organ. There is an art in
Sunday school teaching by fl-
anneigraph, This was Well inlier-
trlated, as a visual aid to..teach-
ing by Mrs, Don, Middleton and
her class as they p.ortray0i the
story of Daniel in the,4Lion'.
Den. Thus great truths are in-
delibly stamped on young-minds
and this graph ended fittingly
with the song "Dare to, be a
Daniel" with Mrs. Edward Wise
at the piano.
The :highlight of the concert
was the presentation of an' or-
iginal play "The Prodigal Son"
written and produced by the
junior class in 'three scenes,
The props and costume's were
quite effective. The feast for
the returned prodigal was car-
ried in by slaves bearing heap-
ed platters covered with white
cloths. One assumed the cloths
covered sumptuous fatted cal-
ves. Arlene Dutot:.Sharon Mid-
dleton, John Hudie, Stirl-
ing and Linda Stirling starred
in this playlet. r.
The unexpected 'always-.adds
interesting touches to this type
of concert. One little toddler
of about 18 months was so
carried away with enthusiasm
she ran from her mother and
got in to the act on the stage,
Another little girl wandered up
to get one of the tempting ap-
ples on the prodigal's banquet
table. All very heart-warming.
A splendid film "The Birth
of a Saviour" was presented
with Kelvin Jervis, Clinton, as
projectionist, The story as told
by St. Luke was unfolded in
rich oriental colour,

The singing of "Jingle Bells"
heralded the arrival of jovial
Santa Claus, who distributed
presents to all the children.
This was a lovely concert,
old fashioned and new, and in
the light of such Christmas de-
light depicted on so many lit-
tle shining faces the threat of
fallout, radiation and such out-
rages seemed to vanish in to
the background like so many
vanquished hobgoblins.
