" In charge of the programme was Mrs. Donald Andrews. Lois Grasby capably favoured' with two piano solos, "Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring", and "Blue Tango," The guest 'speaker; Mrs. Frank Fingland gave an interesting and educational talk on her summer trip to Alaska and the Yukon, Slides about her trip were enjoyed by all. Lunch was served by Miss Jane Batkin and Miss Edythe Beacom, A social hour followed. Bible readings depict- ing the Christmas story were used, Several carols were sung. Prayer was. by Mrs. Proctor, and the Lord's Prayer was re- peated in unison. After the closing by the ben- ediction, Mr. Mills took several pictures of both executives and the young ladies who took part in the worship service. Pave I Mr, and Mrs, Bert Allen, tondesboro„ Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary (Londesboro Correspondent) Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allen who are life long residents of Hul- lett Township marked their 50th wedding anniversary on November 30 with open house at their home in Londesbo,o. Neighbours kindly planned a surprise celebration. 140 •guests called during the afternoon and evening, showering the couple with good , wishes. Congratulations were also re- ceived from Prime Minister John Deifenbaker, Elston Car- diff, MP, John Hanna, MPP, Charles lVtacNaughton MPP and Mrs. MacNaughton, also a framed 'plaque bearing, congrat- ulations from the Ontario gov- ernment, and a telegram from Premier John Roberts, Among various useful gifts, the community oresented the Aliens with a handsome table and four folding chairs. Form- er neighbours on the 13th con- cession gave a gold cloth has- sock and electric clock, and the Women's Institute a lovely tablecloth with serviettes, The ladies served a dainty lunch. Mrs, Harold Sprung, who was a guest at the wedding 50 years ago, poured tea in the afternoon. A three tier wed- ding cake beautifully decorated by their minister the Rev. H. Funge drew many admiring comments, The cake was a gift of the Good Neighbours Club of which Mrs, Allen is a mem- ber.
