Tuckersmith Township
During the month of August
$1,050.00 was paid by Council
to two sheep owners for dam-
ages resulting from marauding
dogs killing and injuring their
sheep, If more claims are reg-
istered, it will necessitate an
increase in the Dog Tax to
cover same.
The Dog Tax and Cattle,
Sheep and Poultry Protection
Act, Section 10. Any person
may kill a dog.
(a) that is found killing or in-
juring cattle, sheep or poul-
try;
(b) that in a township or vill-
age is found between sun-
set and sunrise straying
from the premises where
the dog is habitually kept;
(c) that is found straying at
any time, and not under
proper control, upon prem-
ises where cattle; sheep or
poultry are habitually kept.
Section 13. A local municip-
ality having paid to the owner
of cattle, sheep or poultry the
amount of the damage ascer-
tained under section 12 is en-
titled to recover the amount so
paid from the owner of the;dog
that did the damage in any
court of .competent jurisdiction
without proving that it was
vicious or accustomed to worry
cattle, sheep or poultry.
Section 16, (1) Where the
owner of a dog has knowledge
that the dog has killed or in-
jured cattle, sheep or poultry,
he shall destroy the dog or
cause the dog to .be destroyed
within forty-eight hours after
acquiring such knowledge.
