Mrs. James Brown, 146 Qu-
een Street, returned last week
from a three week visit to tile
Canadian west. She travelled by
train with her daughter; Mrs.
Arthur Wilson, Trenton, whom
she met in Toronto,
Reason for the trip was to
meet Mrs. Brown's sister-in-
law, Mrs. Rose liare, who had
come for the summer from her
home in Essex, England, to be
with her daughter, Mrs. Peter
Welding and granddaughter
Christine in Calgary. This was
the first time Mrs. Brown had
seen her sister-in-law since
leaving England herself in 1903
Mrs. Brown enjoyed the trip
completely, since it Was her
first "real" trip away from On-
tario, A motor trip from Cal-
gary took them into British
Columbia, through Kicking
Horse Pass and the Great Div-
ide. They visited Field, Golden
and the Radium Hotsprings,
went to Lake Louise and
Banff, saw the St, Clair Can-
yon and the chair lifts used
by skiers in the season; saw
the Three Sisters Mountain
and Mount Eisenhouer,
"Calgary", says Mrs. Brown.,
"is a lovely city". There are
thousands of snapdragons, and
their colours are arranged most
beautifully." She also remark-
ed upon the lovely flowers and
lawns ,at the chateau on Lake
Louise, the startlingly blue of
this lake, Which combines with
white snow and mountain st-
reams. Her relatives live in the
Forest Lawn area of Calgary.
A miscellaneous shower was
held last Thursday for Miss
iris Ellis, daughter of Serg-
eant and Mrs, Lee Ellis, RCAF
Station Clinton. About 13 fr-
iends attended the affair held
at ,the home of Mrs, Wallace
Hacking, RCAF Station Clin-
ton,
Mrs. June Aldwinckle and
Mrs, Hacking were in charge of
the games, Mrs. Pat Tremblay
poured tea from the daintily
arranged tea table, ,and a buf-
fet luncheon was served, Miss
Ellis is to be married on Sep-
