91 Years Old
Congratulations are extended
to Mrs. Annie Walper who cele-
brated her 91st birthday last
week, at Huronview where she
has been a patient for some
time. Her only daughter, Mrs.
John Daer and Mrs. Andrew
Kirkconnell visited her that
day. he had been .a lite -long resi-
dent of the Auburn community
until she went to Clinton ow-
ing to ill health. She is the
daughter of the late George
Waiper and Elizabeth Plaetzer
and was born in the Maitland
Block of Hullett. Township.
She was married to Peter
Walper 53 years ago. 28 years
ago he passed away and she
moved to Auburn where she
resided until five years ago.
St. Mark's Guild
The Ladies' Guild of St.
Mark's Anglican Church met at
the home of Mrs. George Sch-
neider with 19 ladies and 16
children present. The hostess
was in charge of the meeting
which was opened by singing,
"Jesus Loves Me" with accor-
dion accompaniment played by
Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor.
The study book chapter on
the refugees in Hang Kong,
bringing to light the horrible
truths of conditions in that
country, was taken by Mrs.
Lewis Ruddy.

The bride, given in marriage

original design floor - length
dress of peau de sole with lace
applique and lily -point sleeves.
The veil was held by a pearl
tiara. She carried a cascade
bouquet of pink roses, ivy and
white rose buds,
The bride's sister, Miss Mary
Jefferson, Donnybrook, was
maid of honour. Her dress was
white organza over white taf-
feta with mauve organza sash,
mauve petal hat and white ac-
cessories. She carried a cascade
bouquet of yellow 'mums. The
bridesmaids, Miss Eleanor Sm-
ith, Bluevale, cousin of the
bride wore identical dresses and

The members voted to give
a donation to the Daily Vaca-
tion Bible School, A children's
program of races and games
was conducted by Carole Br-
own and Ruth Schneider with
prizes given to the whiners.
A successful auction was held
with Rev. R. F. Meally and
Mrs. Ed. Davies in charge. A
delicious picnic lunch was ser-
ved by Mrs. Schneider, her
daughters and their friends.
Presbyterian WMS
T h e Women's Missionary
Society of Knox Presbyterian
Church entertained the memb-
ers of the Ida White Group of
the COC and the CGIT at their
July meeting in the Sunday
school room of the church.
The president, Mrs. Donald
Haines was in charge of the
meeting and gave the call to
orship--followed by prayer by
Mrs. Ed. Davies. The devotion-
al period was in the charge of
the girls and the members of
the COC. Jannett Dobie read
the Scripture lesson and the
meditation was given by Dar-
lene Stewart. Rose Marie Hag-
gitt led in prayer. A solo was
sung by Margaret Haines with
piano accompaniment played by
Mrs: John Houston,
The offering was received by
Margaret Sanderson and this
was dedicated by Marian
Youngblut. A piano solo was
played by Mary Sanderson. An
interesting film was shown on
the work and life of John Wil-
liams, a missionary of the
South Seas with the script
read by Mrs. W. Bradnock.
Mrs. Alvin Leatherland read
the minutes and gave the fin-
ancial statement. Donations of
Christmas gifts to be sent in
the bale are requested to be
brought to the church soon. It
was announced that a training
school for teachers will be held
at Blyth on September 27.
Mrs, Gordon Dobie reported on
the memorial fund. Roll call
was answered by each member
naming a brother of the Bible.
The meeting was closed with
prayer by Margaret Youngblut,
The Ladies Aid of the Pres-
byterian Church met with the
president, Mrs. Ed. Davies in
charge. Owing to the secretary,
Mrs. Roy Daer, being a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, the minutes were read by
Mrs. Gordon Dobie. It was de-
cided to send a donation to the
Deaconess Training Home to
assist buying the furniture at
this new school in Toronto.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
W. Bradnock, Mrs. John Gra-
ham, Mrs. M. Youngblut and
Mrs, M. Chopin.

For a wedding trip to East-
ern Ontario the bride donned
a green dress with matching
jacket, beige ,accessories and a
corsage of bronze 'mums.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson will re-
side on ;the groom's farm on
the ,sixth concession of West
Wawanosh. A special guest was
the groom's grandknother, MTs.
Crawford, Kenora. Other guests
were from Toronto, Owen
Sound, Clinton, Newmarket,
Simcoe, Part Arthur, Fullerton,
Woodstock, Dunnville, Strat-
ford, Listowel, Bluevale, Brus-
sels, Wingham, Kitchener, Bel -
grave, Gerrie, Seaforth and
Wiillowdale.
Prior to her marriage the
brid'e's mother held a tea at
her :home. Serving the guests
were Diane Chamney and Wan-
da Wilson. The gifts were dis-
played by Misses Dorothy Noble
and Kathleen O'Malley, friends
of the bride.
Mrs. Andrews, Clinton hon-
oured Miss Jefferson with a
shower and Donnybrook United
Church ,honoured her when
they presented her with a man-
tle clock, coffee table and two
step -tables from the church
and choir. Many other beauti-
ful gifts were also received
from relatives and friends in
the surrounding community.
Farmer Injured
Fatally by Car
in His Hayfield
James Alexander McMillan,
67, Goderich Township, died
early Wednesday morning in
Victoria Hospital, London from
injuries received Tuesday morn-
ing on his farm on the sixth
concesision.
When he failed to come from
the hayfield ,by eight o'clock,
Mrs. McMillan askedtheir 14 -
year -old son Robert to take the
car and see what was wrong.
Driving through standing hay
about four feet high, Bobby
failed to see his father, and the
car went over him. Mr. McMil-
lan was apparently lying on
the ground.
Surviving are his wife, three
sons, ICenneth, Colin and Bob-
by; two daughters, Lois, at
home and Donna, Mrs. Kenneth
Bauer, Londbn.

World Tour
Thirteen months of studying
educational systems around the
world lie ahead of Dr. Ann Mc-
Creary, eldest daughter of Mr.
and Mxs, Harold Phillips, Blyth.
Dr. McCreary has left for New
York on the ,first leg of a tour
which will take her to Europe
the Near East, Asia and the
Orient.
A graduate of Cornell Univer-
sity, N.Y., and a former mem-
ber of the teaching staff at
Cornell, she will visit with fr-
iends in New York prior to
July 18, when she will board
the liner Sltavangefford for
Oso, Norway.
lin Oslo she will attend an
international meeting for edu-
cational research from August
7 to 12. From there she will
go to ;the University of Stock-
holm to take up a post -graduate
dootoral scholarship in reading
and teaching training which
will last eight months.
Following her course, Dr.
McCreary plans to visit schools
and study educational systems
in Europe, Indira, Nepal, The
Phillipines, Siam, Japan, and
Hawaii, returning to San Fran-
cisco in September, 1962.

to her departure at the home
of her parents. Mrs. Phillips,
as ,hostess, welcomed nearly
20 guests for the occasion. Mrs.
