is president of the Clinton Horticultural Society which sponsors the show. With
her is Clifford H. Epps, former zone director with the horticultural societies,

Eyre-Adams
St. Thomas' Anglican Church,
Seaforth, was the setting for
Saturday morning, July 1, for
the marriage of Pauline Pat-
ricia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John R. Adams, Seaforth, and
Douglas Barry Eyre, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Eyre,
RR 2, Kippen. Rev. Harry Don-
aldson officiated at the cere-
mony.
Mrs. John A. Cardno, Sea-
forth, was organist, and ,Meisl
Peg Coombs, Seaforth, waig4t&
oist.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a gown
of nylon and lace and nylon
net over •taffeta, fashioned with
fitted bodice and lily-point
sleeves. A headdress of French
satin leaves held her veil of
nylon tulle, 'trimmed with ray-
on embroidery and a scalloped
edge. She wore a gold cross, a
gift from the bridegroom, and
carried a white Bible crested
with 'a mauve orchid.
Miss Doris Walker, RR 1,
Brucefield, was maid of honor,
wearing a waltz-length gown of
lilac silk organza over rayon
taffeta, styled with sweetheart
neckline and two tiered bouf-
fant skirt
The bridesmaids, Miss Nicole
Buys and Miss Yvonne Adams,
both of Seaforth, wore similar
gowns. They carried nosegays
of baby white pompoms.
Cheryll Scott was flower girl,
and wore a white nylon chiffon
and lace dress' and carried a
nosegay of white baby. pompoms.
Russell Adams was ring bearer.
Mervyn Eyre, RR 2, Kippen,
was his brother's groomsman,
and ushers were Lawrence
Eyre, RR 2, St. Marys, and
Cleave Coombs, Seaforth.
The wedding dinner was serv-
ed at 'the Commercial Hotel,
Seaforth. Receiving the guests',
the bride's mother wore a lace
dress in apple green with white
accessories and a red carnation
corsage. The bridegroom's mo-
ther was wearing a brown fig-
ured silk dress, beige accessor-
ies and a pink carnation cor-
sage.
For a wedding trip to North
Bay 'and other points in North-
ern Ontario, the bride chose a
lemon yellow dress of flocked
dacron over taffeta, accented
with a white silk sash, white
accessories and a mauve orchid
corsage. Mr. and Mrs, Eyre
will reside in St Marys.

For a wedding trip to Mus-
koka the bride travelled in a
turquoise nylon floral sheath,
matching duster, white acces-
sories and a corsage of pink
carnations. Mr. and Mrs. Medd
will reside in Toronto.
Following the wedding cere-
mony, a reception was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Williams, Whitby, where
Mrs. Gordon McClean, Toronto,
received wearing a turquoise
ensemble, white accessories and
a corsage of pink rosebuds.
She was 'assisted by the groom's
mother who wore a Queen's
blue nylon floral pleated dress,
white accessories and a cor-
sage of pink rosebuds.
CLINTONIAN TRIP TO
MART HASTINGS PICNIC
The Clintonian Club is chart-
ering a bus to attend the Mary
Hastings annual picnic at

Mrs. Jack Hudson

Funeral services for Mrs.
Jack Hudson, 79, Hensall, were
held from the Bonthron fun-
eral chapel, Hensall, on Satur-
day, July 1, by the Rev. Currie
Winlaw, with interment in.
Maitlandbank Cemetery, Sea-
forth.
Mrs. Hudson, the former Vic-
toria Ida Hislop, St. Marys,
passed away in Clinton Public
Hospital on Thursday, June 29,
where she had been for the past
three and Ja half months with a
fractured hip, suffered M a fall
at her home. Survivors 'are her
husband, and' one niece of
Wyoming.
Earl A. Thiel
Earl Andrew Thiel, 48, Zur-
ich, died suddenly at his resi-
dence, Monday, July 3.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Alice Marie Decher;
two sons, Douglas and Allan, at
home; one daughter, Mrs. Don-
ald (Carol) Kyle, Calgary; five
brothers, Laird', London; Stew-
art, Charles, Lewis and Leroy,
all of Zurich; two sisters, Mrs.
Karl (Helen) Haberer and Mrs.
Wesley (Alice) Hugill, both of
Zurich. Arrangements 'to be
handled by Westlake funeral
home, Zurich.

The intermittent showers
and coal cloudy weather
make for very difficult hay
operations. The curing of
hay IS slow and what is
baled or in' the Mow le of
poor colour. A number of
fanners haven't started to
hay yet becauSe they are
waiting for good weather.
All other crops, with the
exception Of corn, are good.
Corn IS beginning to show
improvement both in g.row-
th and colour.
Until two years ago, there

Buildings in Town
Hydro, water :and sewerage
service was granted last week,
June 27, by the Clinton Public
Utilities. Commission for three
buildings. Included was the
new Bowling Alley being built
am Highway 4 and the resi-
dences being built by T, Ket-
oheson op Matilda Street and
by Harold Tyndall, King Street,
Water service was granted to
Milton Wiltse, On the east
aide of Highway 4, just south
-of Clinton.
Considerable discussion was
held car the approaching need
for enlarging the sewerage
'treatment plant, According to
Superintendent J, Rands, at the
present time (during the sum-
mer months) the system is
overloaded.
William E. Perdue, chairman
of the commission presided,
and commissioners H. E. Hart-
ley and Charles Brown attend-
ed.
Little Helpers
Annual Service
The Little Helpers of St.
Paul's Anglican Church held
their annual service and party
on Thursday, June 29, The Rev.
P. L. Dymond conducted the
short service in the church.
Charles Merrill presided at the
organ..
Later the party was held on
the rectory lawn, where moth-
ers and children enjoyed the
hospitality of Mrs. Dymond.
Games and races were conduct-
ed 'by Mrs, Allan White. Lunch
was served by members of the
Woman's Associatioa, assisted
:by Miss Hilary Dymond and
Miss Dianne Switzer.

Miss Carol Taylor left last
week on a motor trip to the
West Coast and California, in
company with her uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Bishop and Jacqueline. North

The Vacation Bible School
got off to a good start Monday
morning, when about 80 child-
ren registered for the course.
Rev. T. J. Pitt and a staff of
teachers and helpers are con-
ducting the school.
Members of LOL 1035 are
preparing to go to Milverton
on the 8th to celebrate the
"Battle of the Boyne". They
have engaged the Bannockburn
Band to lead them in the par-
ade.
The United Church Sunday
School anniversary is being held
this Sunday, July 9 at 10.15
a.m. Anson McKinley, Zurich,
will give the address. The Ro-
bert Radices certificates will be
presented to the pupils for at-
tendance.
