Have Inaugural
Under New DDP
The inaugural meeting of
Huron District No. 23 of the
Rebekah Assembly, IOOF of
Ontario was held in the Clinton
lodge rooms with the newly-
appointed District Deputy Pres-
ideinrt, Mrs, Ethel (Carman) Me
Pherson in charge. 45 delegates.
and representatives were pres-
ent from Hensel], Exeter, Gode-
rich, Seaforth, Brussels and
Clinton.
Mrs. McPherson presented
Mrs. Lillian Grumme tt, Sea-
forth, retiring DDP with her
past president's pin. Mrs. Mary
(Benson) Sutter was elected
district secretary -treasurer.
At the close of the business
session cards were played. Win-
ners were Mrs. Ed, Nickl,e,
Clinton, Mrs. Stewart Dick,
Clinton. Mrs. Annie Thyme,
$:russets, was Ione -hand win-
ner and Mrs. Ruby 13e11, Hen
call, held the lucky cup.
The lunch committee conven-
ed by Mrs, Albert Shaddick and
Mrs. Charles Wilson served a
delightful supper -lunch,

Municipal Officials Tour
Sixty-five representatives from municipalities
across the Maitland River Watershed toured a
number of projects of the Saugeen VaIIey Conser-
vation Authority last Wednesday, June 21. The
above group pictured in the Mildmay Park includes;
Saugeen Valley Authority
Tom Leiper, Reeve of Mullett Township; Mayor Ed
Daly, Seaforth; L. G. Winter, and Mayor W. J.

'Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McBride
accompanied their daughter
Sharon to Bigwin Inn, Lake of
Bays, Muskoka on Saturday
where she will be employed for
the summer months.
Robert Thomson fell from a
load :of haled hay Thursday at
the farm, of his son Bert, frac-
turing same ribs. He was at-
tended by Dr. J. C. Goddard,
Hensall. Mr. Thomson celebrat-
ed his 83rd birthday on Sat-
urday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Mellis
attended the 25th wedding an-
niversary on Friday of the lat-
ter's brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. William Gibson,
near Wroxeter.
Master Gregory Lane, four-
year=old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Keith Love is recovering from
a broken right arm which he
received in falling from a pony.
He was taken to Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital where his arm was
placed in a cast.
Miss Jean Little, 22 -year-old.
school teacher 'from Guelph has
won the 1961 little brown Can-
adians Children's book award.
The $1,000 award is given to the
manuscript for .a book for child-
ren of any age group written
by a citizen and resident of
Canada. It is Mass Little's first.
book. She is the daughter of
the farmer . Dr. Flora Gould
Klippen, and the late Dr. Lew
Little.
Good Will Club
At Lake Cottage
Last Wednesday, June 21 was
a perfect summer day and the
Wesley -Willis Good Will Club
had a pleasant outing to the
pat -luck picnic held ,at the Sut-
ter cottage.
After enjoying the sunshine
and lake breezes for an hour or
two, a delicious buffet supper
was served.
Mrs. A. L. Rodges presided
for a brief business session, in
the absence of the president,
Mrs H. G, Manning. She grac-
iously thanked the hostess for
her kind hospitality and all who
had :generously provided trans-
portation.

Kinette of 1961
The regular meeting of the
Kinette Club of Clinton was
held at the home of Mrs.
Charles Proctor on: Tuesday,
June 27 with the president, Mrs.
Mait Edgar in the chair, Guests
invited for :the evening were
Mrs. Gordon Grigg, ,Mrs. Donald
Shearer, Mrs. Thomas Feeney,
Mrs, William Fleming, Mrs.
Ernest Morrell, Mrs. Ronald
Smith, and two visiting mem-
bers from Goderich.
The highlight of the evening
was the choosing of "Kinette of
The Year", Mrs, Don Kay. She
was presented with a desk set
displaying the Kin crest.
During the hatter part of July
A. picnic is planned for all Kin
families at Bayfield. Following
the meeting games were played
and a lovely buffet lunch was
served.
$75 donation was made to the
Retarded Children's Association
to send a local child to summer
vacation camp.

WA Meeting
The regular ,monthly meeting
of the Woman's Association of
Grace United Church was held
Wednesday afternoon :at the,
parsonage, Bayfield, with 18
ladies and five children present.
The president, Mrs. Alvin
Bottles was in charge of the
hneeting which opened with
singing the WA theme song.
Sculpture lesson was read by
Mrs. Idsinga:, topic and prayer
by Mrs, A. Lockhart. Roll call
was 'answered by each lady
wearing a rose.
Secretary and tre'asurer's re-
ports were given. Mrs. Elgin
Coat reported for the sick and
visiting; Mrs. Harry Torrance
and Mrs. Johns McEwan, for the
Crib quilt :committee :and Mrs.
Allem: Bottles for (the sewing
eemuvittee.

money on Saturday, June 17,
at St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Churoh, Clinton, which united
in marriage Helen Freeman,
and James Emmerton, Clinton.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Freeman,
Clinton and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs, Allan Em-
merton, London.
The bride chose a white peau
de sole ballerina length gown.
A tiara of iridescent crystal
beads held her finger-tip veil of
French illusion, appliqued with
lace, and she carried a white
Bible crested' with a mauve
orchid.
Mins Mary Elliott, Clinton, as
bridesmaid, wore a ballerina
length .gown of silk organza in
orchid shade. Debbie Colquhoun!,
Clinton, as flowergirl, was dres-
sed in yellow organza. Ken-
neth Radford, Blyth, was ring -
bearer.
Groomsman was Garry Free-
man, Clinton, and Donald Free-
man, Clinton, ushered guests.
For .a motor trip in Northern
Ontario the bride donned a
mauve linen dress, white acces-
sories and an orchid corsage.
The couple will reside in Clin-
ton.

Among 'the villages Hensall
is the 'largest with 903 .people;
Zurich has 737; Blyth 743 and
Brussels 835.
Goderich Township roads
stretch for 171 miles, the long-
est distance that any munici-
pality in the county has 'to
maintain. Zurich has the least,
a total of three miles.

met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Charles Nelson on J?tly 24
with 14 members present. Pro: -
grams for summer camps were
discussed. Anyone interested
should contact the superintend-
ent, Ron Steepe.
Mrs. Norman Holland report-
ed plans well underway for
Vacation. Scbool. This will open
on; July 3 and continue for two
weeks. All children from four
to 12 years will be welcome,
Final plans for the congrega-
tional picnic were made. It is
to be held in Exeter on July 5.
Cars leave the church at 2.30
p.m. Charles Nelson and M. 7'.
Carless are in charge of trans',-
portation.
Sunday School is to be held
after morning service as usual
during July.
Rev, E. J. Roulston continued
his Biblical talks taking as his
text, part of St. John 3: 2.
Asthis was the last meeting
Mr. Roulston would attend as
minister of the church, Lloyd
Holland in a few well chosen
words expressed appreciations
for the interest he had taken
and the splendid talks given
and presented him and Mrs.
Roulston with a small gift.
The superintendent thanked
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson for their
hospitality and Mr. Roulston
closed' with prayer. The next
meeting will be :at the home of
Mrs. N. Holland.

The annual 13a11 Reunion was
held at the Lions Park in Mit-
-obeli ton Saturday, June 17, with
over 100 present. Guests WP

Mitchell, Kitchener, Ciawson,
Minh., l;..ondon, Stratford, De-
troit and other surrounding dis-
tricts,
The afternoon was enjoyed by
a friendly get -ter -getter, Sports
were essayed by the younger
ones under the convenership of
Mr. .and Mrs, Kenneth. Gibibings
and Mr. and Mrs, Donald Mc-
Gregor and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Penfound.
A bountiful supper was serv-
ed under the convenership of
Mr. and Mrs. David McLeod,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack McLeod and
Mr, and Mrs. Norman. Mair.
Warren Gi!bbings, president,
presided over the meeting at
the close of the supper, A
moment of silent prayer was
observed for those who had pas-
sed on.
