C. Bennett, from the Department of Wel- fere, starting that there will be a section at the Canadian Na- tional Exhibitioaat for exhibits of ants and crafts by residents of county homes. There will be no entry fee, and generous prizes - will be awarded.. It was decided to accept the CNE imitation on ibehalf of the residents of Huronview. The residents are busy mak- ing ing mats, pillow slips,, runners and luncheon cloths and have sold a lot of them. Olid clean nylons are still needed. The second anniversary tea will be held June 28 -at Huron - view, with Mrs. Gordon Cun- inghanne and Mrs. Louis For- est, Clinton, in charge, Every- one is welcome to attend. There will be •a conducted tour of the home and a social afternoon. Owing to conflicting dates, the Women's Institute branch scheduled to sponsor the May birthday party had to cancel the date, so the Ladies' Auxili- ary took over on Wednesday, afternooul, May 17, hemming 13 of the residents whose birth- days fall in May. The official opening of Huronview's new wing is ten- tatively set for early Septem- ber. Next Saturday, June 3, this same class is due to be paraded again. Above is the famed township class, made up of three heavy horses shown, in competition as a group. This is an impressive sight, as the lovely strong animals are walked, posed, and shown by their handlers. The horse show at the Clinton Spring Fair is something well worth seeing. (News -Record Photos) Legion Convention At Markdale This Sunday Markdale Branch, No. 205, of the Royal Canadian. Legion, has completed the arrangements for the Semvi-Annual Conven- tion of District "C," which is to be held in• Markdale Coin- munity Centre on Sunday, May 28, District "C" of the Royal Canadian Legion extends from Stratford to Tobermory, with a total of 57 Branches on its roster. C. E. Stoddart, the President of the Markdale Branch, says the 'attendance at :the Conven- tion is expected to exceed 350 Legionnaires. "I am happy," Comrade Stoddart stated, "to voice the pleasure of the Mark - dale Branch in extending a wel- come to the District "C" Dele- gates and Comrades. I trust we will all have a full mea- sure of fellowship and profit- able abble deliberations from the parade and sessions to be held during the Convention on Sun- day, May 28th." Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a flour - length gown of white brocaded hammered satin with cut -away boat neckline. She carried four lilies with sprays of Steph- anotis. The bride's sister. Mrs. Irene Wise, Vancouver, B.C., was matron of honour wearing a street -length , orchid taffeta dress with long sleeves, fitted bodice with high neckline in front and cwt -away back. Her headdress was a rose made of matching material .and she car- ried a careade of yellow daisies. Bridesmaids were 3oanne Masse, Grand Bend, and 'reale Lavery, Hensall, in delicate pink and pastel green fashion- ed on lines identical to that of the matron of honour. Flower girl was the brid'e's niece, four-year-old Carrie James, Winddorr, wearing a soft pink dress, with full skirt and net overskirt. She carried a basket of mixed spring flowers. Gordon Lavery, Hensaill, was groomsman and Tom Penhale and Emerson Coleman ushered. A reception was held at the brid'e's home, Monetta Men- ard's, Grand Bend. For a wed- ding trip to Florida the bride changed to an electric blue and white two-piece dress with white floral halt and white ac- cessories. The couple will re- side in Hensall. Padre of rthe Markdale Branch, will dedicate the wreaths, "The Last Post" and "Reveille" will be sounded by a trumpeter. Officials of the Markdale Branch state they are antici- pating that several bands will take part in the parade, in- cluding the Grey and Simcoe Regimental Band, of Owen Sound, the Palmerston Pipe Band, and others. CNIB Meeting At Wingham With Huron Board (By E. F. Wheeler, district field secretary) An outstanding blind Cana- dian, A. W. Sparks, will ad- dress a joint meeting of ,the. Winghaxn Lions Club and the Huron County Advisory Board to the Canadian National Insti- tute for the Blind at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Wing - ham, Friday evening, May 26. Mr. Sparks is CNIB's Super- viisor of Field Services in On- tario anti has been a Lion for 21 yearns. Without sight since 17 years of age, he has been interested in work for the blind since 1936. At that time he 'became active on the CNIB Advisory Board in the Ottawa area. "It was there that I first be - carne aware of the efforts and the zeal of the Canadian Na- tional Institute for rthe Blind'," he recalls. In young adulthood Mr. Sp- arks built up a piano tuning business in Montreal. Later he joined the staff ef the C. W. Lindsay Ca., as a piano tech- nician. Mr. Sparks is married and has Use adult children. He is a music and book enthusiast and possesses an impressive collection of both. 0 John Anderson Leads Shoot At Kippen May 21 (Hensall Correspondent) John Anderson won the Lon- don Winery Trophy at the Vic- toria Day shoot held at Klippen Gun Club over the weekend with 42 out of 50. Hedley Pr- ouse, Clinton, and Ted Horten, Goderich, .tied for runners up spot with 40 out of 50. Ander- son also won the special hand- icap event with a score of 23 out of 25.
