the boys' singles. Ron Belcher

Ross Bevan, Ron Belcher, Art
Bevan, 12A, and Ted Turner,
12B, foamed the boys' 'team.
The championship is based
on a, system of points: The win-
ner of each series of 2 out of
3 gaines received a point. Ate
Bevan and Ted Turner received
the only point for Clinton
The badminton teams were
under the leadership of K. Cly-
nick and R. Welsh. At the end
of the day the Goderich play-
ers went home triumphant.

indicated by an essay written by Cathy Draper of

This is not a special essay, reports Mrs, J. D.
Thornlike, iJnglish teacher, but a routine assign-
ment from thp Grade S Composition text book.

moment's hesitation, I grabbed -
the officer's revolver and shot

After that, things moved
swiftly and surely. I soon
found myself in eourt. I was
the defendant, and the charge
was murder.
In the nearby city hospital
an• awesome thing was happen-
ing, the body of John Carter
was now coming back to life.
When the trial was over and
the jury had reached their ver-
dict John walked in and said
'that I was innocent. So I was
saved, for John had told the
court the true story which I
had, up to that time. been tint- '
able to tell. On this day I felt
as though the Earth stood

Then he handed me some-
thing to put around my wrist
and said that if I told anyone
about him it would send' a
message back to his brothers
end ten thousand Tone would
invade the earth. •

County TB Group
J. E. McKinley, Zurich, was
elected president of the Huron
County Tuberculosis Associa-
tion at the 'annual meeting in
Goderich on May 3. He suc-
ceeds Harvey MeDermid, Ford-
wich.
Other officers. elected were
first vice-president, E. I. Stew-
art, Seaforth; second vice-pres-
ident, Dr. J. C. Ross,Goder-
ich; Christmas Seal cairman,
E. C, Boswell, Seaforth; case
finding chairman, R. B. Pat-
terson, Hensall; social service
and rehabilitation chairman,
Russell Knight, Brussels, and
medical officer, Dr. R. M. Al-
dis, Goderich, medical officer of
health far Huron County.
Dr. Ross was also appointed
representative to the Ontario
Tuberculosis Association, and
Mr. Stewart, seal sales chair-
man.
Members of the nominating
committee were Judge Frank
Fingland, Clinton; Elmer D.
Bell, QC, Exeter, and Magis-
trate Glenn Hays, Goderich.
Mrs. Edith Russell, Seafoette
secretary-'treasurer of the as.-
sociation, reported a balance of
$13,317 as of March 31.
Majority Checked
Mrs. Russell reported 51.7
percent of the population of
Huron County took advantage
of tuberculin testing and chest
X-nay surveys last summer.
