Santa Delivers Baskets Jolly old Santa tripped about on Saturday night and deliver- ed Christmas baskets to the sick and shut-ins, far the Bay- field Lions Club. This year he did not have a musical ac- companiment as most of the Lions were at the Hutchings fire doing volunteer fire-fight- ing until after six o'clock, and so the record broadcasting sys- tem did not get tuned up in time. But Santa was as merry as ever. Village Party The annual Christmas. party for children of the district wh- ich was sponsored by the Bay- field Lions Club was attended by about 140 on Thursday af- ternoon at 3 o'clock in the town hall. Alf. Scotchrner projected a Elm for their entertainment. Santa Claus areived and help- ed distribute bags of candy and oranges to the children. The committee in charge was Leslie Elliott, Cliff Utter, Spencer Er- vine. Cant, which were excellently presented by the pupils under the direction of their teacher Miss Jean McKellar with Miss Carol Taylor at the piano. A large congregation filled the United Church last Sunday morning for the Christmas ser- vice with the pastor Rev. T, Pitt in charge who gave the Christmas message. The choir eang two Christmas anthems under the direction of the or- ganist Mrs, Robert Sterling. The New Year's service will be held next Sunday afternoon at p.m, in the United Church. The sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be administered during the service.
