and Jim motored to Toronto on
Monday to meet their daughter-
in-law Mrs. Don Kyle and De-
bcrrrah Jane, Calgary, at Mal-
ton Airport. They will be here
for the holiday season.
The choirs of Brucefield and
Kippen churches will unite to
present the Christmas cantata
"The Gospel Song of Christ-
mas" on Sunday evening, De-
cember 18 in Brucefield United
Church commencing at 8 p.m.
The Rev, Harold Johnston will
be the narrator; Mrs. J. R.
Murdoch the organist and Miss
Jean Ivison the pianist.
Brian Dayman, ten years,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Dayman, is recovering from a
broken right arm and collar
bone which he sustained two
weeks ago. He was playing in
the barn with his brothers and
sisters when a cow kicked him.
He was treated at Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital. Dr. J. C. Goddard,
Hensall, attended.

A reception was, held Friday
evening at SS No. 14 Stanley
school for Mr. and Mrs. Robert

and slides of the wedding were
shown later,
An address was read by Mrs.
J. R. Murdock and the couple
were presented with a table
lamp, magazine rack and cush-
ions. Ernest Talbot and Will-
iam McLachlan presented the
gifts.
The couple thanked everyone
for their kindness.
Winners at euchre were: lad-
ies, Dianne Faber; consolation,
Mrs, Bert Faber; men, J. R.
Murdock; consolation, Ernest
Talbot.
IVIVIS Meets
The Christmas meeting of the
Woman's Missionary Society
was held on Thursday, Decem-
ber 8 in the schoolroom of the
church with Mrs. John Sinclair
in charge of the meeting. The
worship service theme was the
Christmas carol "Silent Night,
Holy Night". Mrs. Allan John-
ston read the story and Mrs.
Winston Workman gave the
interpretation' of the song.
Everyone joined in singing the
carol.
The offering was taken by
the hostesses, Mrs. Pearson
Charters. and Mrs. Ross Lave.
The report of Presbyterial held
at Thames Road United Church
in October was given, 'by Mrs.
Emerson Kyle, The minutes
were read and adopted. Roll
call was answered with a gift
for the Salvation Army.

Ross Broadfoot favoured with
a piano duet of "Silent Night,"
A very impressive candle- light
ing service was held;
First candle "forgiveness"
was lighted by Mrs. H. John-
ston, followed by everyone sing-
ing the first verse of "Once in
Royal David's City,"
Second candle "Peace" was
lighted by Mrs. John Anderson,
followed by everyone singing
first verse of "Gentle Mary
Laid Her Child."
Third candle "Joy" was light-
ed by Mrs. William Ball fol-
lowed by the first verse of "Joy
to the World".
Fourth candle "Love" was
lighted by Mrs. E. Kyle follow-
ed' by "Away in a Manger."
Mrs. H, Johnston gave the
Christmas message. Mrs. R. J.
Elgie gave the visiting report,
of eight calls to shut-ins. The
sunshine report was given by
Mrs. Eldon Jarrett, It was
decided to pack Christmas
boxes for shut-ins.
The slate of officers was pre-
sented by Mrs. Alex McMurt-
rie. Mrs, John Anderson thank-
ed everyone for remembering
her while she was a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital. A soc-
ial hour was enjoyed with
lunch.

Concert
The Christmas Concert pres-
ented on Saturday eventing by
the Sunday School of Grace
United Church was a decided
success; and was well attended.
The minister Rev. W. C.
Smith was chairman for the
occasion, welcoming all present
and complimented the teachers
and pupils on their efforts in
providing such a splendid pro-
gram.
The basement was beautifully
decorated by the senior class
and lent a real Christmas at-
mosphere for the occasion. The
program got under way with
the school singing two choruses
"Gentle Mary Laid Her Child"
and "Silent Night", recitations
by Terry Bauer and Connie
Harris. Peggy Ann Betties fav-
oured with a solo "The Christ-
mas Song."
The kindergarten class pro-
vided recitations by Sandra
Cox, Debbie Torrance, Jimmie
Riddell, Rodney Cox; a solo by
Jody •Cox and a duet by Marie
Betties and Janey Harris and
all joined in singing, "Away in
a Manger."
Mrs. Elgin Cox gave a hum-
orous monologue "Reverie in
Church." "The Bible Tells Me
So" was sung by the junior
girls, Sharon Lockhart, Julie
Cox, Christline Harris, Bonnie
and Cheryl Cox, Elaine Town-
shend and Linda Torrance.
Recitations were given •by the
primary class, Laurie Cox, Col-
leen Lockhart, John Cox, John
Manning, John Sturdy and Ke-
vin Cox.
The junior boys, Steven Har-
ris, Wayne Bauer, David Math-
ens, Larry Sturdy and Dennis
Harris dressed in Scottish dress
sang, "My One and Only High-
land Firing",
The singing of "O Little
Town of Bethlehem" and the
National Anthem brought the
program to .a close. Santa Claus
arrived and distributed gifts
and candy to all the children

WMS Meeting
The Woman's Missionary So-
ciety met at the home of Mrs,
T. J. Pitt on Thursday, Decem-
ber 1, when the program ar-
ranged and conducted by Mrs,
Percy Johnston followed a
Christmas theme.
Mrs. L, McConnell played
Christmas music; Mrs, John-
son gave the call to worship;
Mrs. Harold Dawson read the
Scripture; a double duet by
Mrs, William Taylor, 'Mrs. Wil-
liam Dawson, Mrs. Ron Taylor
and Mrs. Wayne Taylor was
enjoyed.
Mrs. Racha.el Johnston gave
the meditation on the Scripture
and Mrs. Percy Johnston led in
prayer. Mrs. Louis Taylor gave
a reading "Ready for the Gift"
and Mrs, William Taylor and
Mrs. William Dowson sang a
duet, "Softly the Night is Fal-
ling". Mrs, Lyle Hill gave a
reading, "A Christmas Carol."
A brief business period was
conducted by the president,
Mrs. Watson Webster, and •ar-
rangements were made to pack
boxes of Christmas cheer for
the sick and shut-ins on Decem-
ber 19 at Mrs. L. Taylor's
home.
The Rev. T. J. Pitt conducted
the election of officers with
