something Friday night, it does-
n't leave the local post office
for Stratford until Saturday
afternoon, and so doesn't get
to the lab until some time
Monday morning. Then it's
probably Tuesday before -the
report comes back.
The doctor remarks upon the
impractical aspect of having
mail leaving for Stratford at
2,30 p,m.; another four hours
later at 6.30 pm. and then
nothing else until 20 hours
later, Toward London the del-
ivery is worse, since there is
only one truck at 4.30 p,m,
"It's like going back to pony
express," he says. "Why, to
mail something to Zurich takes
as long as going to Toronto,"
Since the mail service is un-
reliable and unsatisfactory, the
hospital, as well as other busi-
nesses in town, has to resort
to other means of transporting
material, which are more ex-
pensive, and less handy.
"Often the patient is home
from the hospital," said the
doctor consulted, "before our
lab reports get hack from the
city."

Congratulations:
Mr. and Mrs. William H.
Knox, Gibbings Street, will
celebrate their 58th wedding
anniversary on December 10.
Little tots, for instance, like
to dabble their fingers in the
paste pot-as you know only
too well-love to get hold of
scissors, paints and paper for
the purpose of creating some-
thing that stems from their
own little minds'. For an all-
oat Christmas effort, supply
them with tinsel and tissue,
balls and icicles, old greeting
cards and cotton ;batting as
well, and they'll turn out all
manner of decorations!
And they'll be happy as
clams munching away on hol-
iday butter cookies and milk
after the debris has been clear-
ed up. Older children would
love an ever-popular popcorn
party-where they may eat
lots of the delicious buttery
stuff while shaping it into big
colorful balls or stringing it on
thread with ruby red cran-
berries. If there are teenagers
round your home, the scene
will be very definitely gay and
vibrant-with a platter party.
They'll want to dance and sing
-and need we mention eat?
Or they'll enjoy the adventure
of caroling for shut-ins in the
neighbourhood just for the
sheer pleasure of singing. And
then back to your house where
all sorts of good things to eat
await them and their sharpen-
ed appetites,
Every age group has its own
diversions, its own brand of
entertainment - and they all
like to eat, especially if the
occazeon promises to produce
Christmas treats such as we
have to suggest today. A trio
of chocolate recipes that are
rich with the good ingredients
of the Christmas grocery shel-
ves, including the dairy foods
that are always a "must" when
it comes to Yuletide baking and
cooking,
We proudly present a choco-
late Fruit Cake-a version of
the familiar favorite that keeps
well, wrapped in wax paper or
saran wrap, either in the re-
frigerator or out-and mellows
nicely as the weeks pass.
On Ito the specific details-
but before we give them to you
we'd like to 'bake time out to
wish you the very merriest
of Christmases!
