Word was received of
death of Lillian Dunkin, wife
of the late Harry Thompson
in her 77th year. The late
Mrs. Thompson was a former
resident of Stanley, Four sons
Survive: Clarence, Vancouver;
George and William, Saskat-
chewan; John, Whitefish, On-
tario and a sister (Pearl) Mrs.
Albert Ross, Florida.
The funeral was held from
the Box funeral home, Park-
hill on Monday, of this week.
Interment was in Parkhill
Cemetery.

ember 1. He was born in China
and the major portion of his

The Ladies Guild of St.
Mark's Anglican Church held
its November meeting at the
home of Mrs. Fordyce Clark
with a good attendance. The
president, Mrs, Thomas Hag-
gitt, was in charge and Mrs.

piano,
After prayers, scripture les-
son was read by Mrs. Fordyce
Clark. "Wuice up and Read"
was read by Mrs, George Sell,
neider. The topic on the Four
Seasons was taken by the Rev.
Robert Meally. A letter from
Saskatoon from a former Guild
member, Mrs. Stanley Pencil,
was read and Mrs. Haggitt
gave a reading, "Your Town",
The minute's of the previous
meeting were accepted as read
by Mrs. Ed. Davies. She also
gave the treasurer's report in
the absence of Mrs. Taylor.
Repair work at the rectory was
discussed and the December
meeting was set for a week

WA Meeting
The regular monthly meet-
ing of the Woman's Associa-
tion of Grace United Church
was held on Wednesday last
at the home of Mrs, William
Cox. The president, Mrs. Tom
Sowerby was in charge of the
meeting which opened with
singing "Take My Life and Let
it be."
Scripture lesson was read by
Mrs. Sowerby and topic and
prayer by Mrs. Austin Austin.
Roll call answered with
"what you would like for
Christmas".
It was decided to make a
donation of $10 to the Upper
Canada Bible Society and a
$35 donation to the Missionary
and Maintenance Fund.
Mrs. Donald Harris gave a
reading and also conducted a
pie naming contest. Winners
of this contest were Mrs. W.
C. Smith and Mrs. Riddell.
Lunch was served ,by the host-
ess.
The next meeting will be
held December 7 at the home
of Mrs. A. Bell. This will be
the annual meeting and officers
for the coming year will be
elected. A good attendance is
requested.

Santa and his four reindeer
will appear again on the Man-
chesiter Garden Park in the
village of Auburn on December
3. The directors of the Hort-
icultural Society decided this at
its November meeting at the
home of president Mrs. Ken-
neth Scott.
A committee of James' Hem-
bly, William Stranghan and
Ed. Davies were -appointed to
place Santa and his sleigh and
James Glausher was asked to
instal the lights. to illuminate
the park.
Minutes were read by sec-
retary, Mrs, Gordon Taylor and
the treasurer, Mrs. Bert Craig
reported that the society had
$73.93 on hand.
A report of the district meet-
ing at Chesley was given by
Mrs, Ed. Davies. Mr. Bristow,
Lucknow is to be the new dist-
rict representative to succeed
Clifford Epps.
The next meeting on Decem-
ber 6will be the Christmas
meeting with Mrs,. Frank
Raithby, Mrs. Herbert Govier
and Mrs. Bert Craig in charge.
The nominating committee of
Mrs, William Straughan, Mrs.
Ed. Davies and Mrs. Bert
Craig will bring in the 1961
slate of offiCe4rs at this next
meeting.

Candy Sale
The local association of
Guiding 'held a very successful
candy sale on Saturday, No-
vember 19 and realized $92.
The candy was made by the'
mothers 'of the Guides and
Brownies. The girls made a
canvass, of the town looking
smart in their uniforms. Pro-
ceeds be used for purch-
asing badges and to help them
with their work during the
year.

cks his neck out was given
by Mrs. Maurice Bean. A
'reading was given by Mrs. R.,
Chamney.
Mrs. Donald' Haines was' ap-
pointed as leader for the 4-H
club project "Cottons May Be
Smart", with the assistant be-
ing Mrs. Ed. Davies. Each
member paid a cent for the
number of size of shoes worn.
The hostesses were Mrs.
Robert Phillips, and Mrs, Geo-
rge Hamilton. The December
meeting will be held' on Dec-
ember 13, one week earlier
than the usual date.
