Mr. and Mrs. George Wood-
cock and Jimmie, Dearborn,
Mich., spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. William Kyle and
family. Mrs. Woodcock's fath-
er, Mr. Norman McLeod who
has spent the summer visiting
in Canada, returned home with
them.
Mrs. Harold Caldwell of Hen-
sail, Mrs. William Kyle and
Bonnie, visited relatives in
Parkhill on Sunday.
Gerald Toonk, 19, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. D, Toonk, RR 3,
Kippen, was badly gored Slime
day by a bull. He was alone
at the time shooting pigeons,
but managed to climb the fence
to get to the house. He was
taken to Scott Memorial Hos-
pital where two Seaforth doct-
ors operated.
Mrs. Arthur Anderson is re-
covering from an injury she
sustained some time ago.
Miss Mabelle Whiteman re-
turned home since visiting
friends in Seafarth,
Mrs. Brownlee who has been
spending a few days in London
with her sister, Mrs. Barnby,
returned to her home.
Miss Jean Ivison visited a
few days in Guelph with her
aunts, Mrs. Gould and Mrs.
Balfour.
Sunday service at St. And-
rew's United Church, Kippen,
was assisted by one of the lay-
men of the United Church,
Martin Baan, Walton. The choir
was an all male one, under the
leadership of Miss J. Ivison.

N. Long and Robert Thomp-
son visited Sunday afternoon

strong, Staffa,
Mrs. William Gatenby, Scep-
tre, Sask., who has been the
west of her cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert McLean the past
month, returned to her home
recently.
Mrs. Lydia Doig received
word her son and daughter-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Doig,

day by plane for a vacation in

Holmesville school on Monday
evening for their annual meet-
ing, which was well attended,

Varea local, Mrs, George Clif-
ton, Kippen, (lady director for
Huron County), gave an inter-
sting report • on the convention
held in Guelph in. October.
President John Semple
brought a farm machinery in-
quiry to everyone's attention,
fhis inquiry is to be presented
at the next session of the
House of Commons. The Inter-
provincial Farm Union Council
plans to make representation to
this inquiry and believes that
information obtained directly
from members would make a
valuable contribution.
The following are some of

The Sunday School Executive
of Holmesville United Church,
met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Carmen Tebbutt, to make
plans for the last quarter of
this year. It was decided to
hold the White Gift service on
Sunday, December 4, during
the church service, Plans were
made for a Sunday School con-
cert to be held on Wednesday,
December 21. Lunch was serv-
ed by the hostess.
Miss Sandra Williams, Bur-
lington public school teaching
staff, spent the weekend at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Williams.
Guests with Mr. and Mrs.
William Norman at the week-
end were their son Jack, Uni-
versity of Toronto student and
Dr. and Mrs, Frank Norman
and family, Parkhill.
Mission Band
Mission Band will be held in
the basement of the church on
Saturday, November 19, when
mothers will be the guests.
Miss Sybil Courtice, Clinton, is
to give a talk, and show some
of her souvenirs from her stay
in Japan as a United Church
missionary.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Magee,
Woodstock, were recent guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Steepe
and family.

A Nomination meeting for the Town-
ship of Goderich will be held on Friday,
November 25th, in the Clinton Town Hall,
between the hours of 1.00 and 2.00 p.m.
Nominations will be received for the
position of Reeve, a Deputy Reeve, and
3 Councillors for the year 1961, also for
2 School Aria Trustees, for a 2 year term.
If an election is necessary, it will be
held on Monday, December 5th between
the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. at

p.m. for the purpose of nominating fit and proper

The Women's Missionary So-
ciety of KnOX Presbyterian
Church met with president
Mrs. Donald Haines in charge
and Mrs. Duncan MacKay at
the piano. Mrs. Herbert Govier
led in prayer. Mrs, Frank
Raithby led in the memorial
service and spoke on the topic,
"The Greatest Love."
A minute of silence was ob-
served and Mrs. Wilfred Sand-erson followed with a prayer.
Mrs. Alvin Leartherland gave an
interesting paper on the life of
Dorcas. Mrs. Duncan MacKay
introduced the new study book,
"Into all the world together."
The offering was received by
Mrs. Gordon Dobie, The sec-
retary-treasurer, Mrs. Alvin
Leatherland gave her reports
and Mrs. Herbert Govier re-
ported on the cards sent to the
members.
Mrs. Ed. Davies read infor-
mation regarding the Home
Helpers department to help
them, with their reports. Roll
call was answered by a verse
from Romans. The meeting was
closed with prayer by Mrs.
Wilfred Sanderson.
Orange Annual
LOL 932 held their annual
meeting and new officers are:

uty W.M., Robert Daer; re-
cording secretary, Gordon
Daer; treasurer Robert Arm-
strong; chaplain, Edgar How-

35th Anniversary
' Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mc-
Clinchey entertained recently
in honor of his parents' nth
wedding anniversary. Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon McClinchey, and
their family, with her mother.
Mrs. William Anderson sat
down to a turkey dinner. The
table was centred by a three-
tiered wedding cake and the
room was tastefully decorated
with pink and white wedding
bells and streamers. After the
dinner, Bob McClinchey gave
an address of congratulations
and John presented them with
an electric viewer from the
family.
Mr. and Mrs. McClinchey
have five sons: Bob, Bill, Nor
man, Dave and John, and two
daughters, Mrs, George (Eileen)
Haggitt and Mrs. Alvin (Jewel)
Plunkett and eight grandchild-
ren.
In the evening a social time
was enjoyed and; the celebrants were given a surprise by other
relatives arriving who present-
ed them with a beautiful large
plant. They were Mrs, Kate
Robinson, Wingham; Mrs.
Charles Jefferson, Donnybrook;
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robinson
and family, Wingham; Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Robinson and family,

4,-H Girls
The Auburn Aces, 4-H Club
held a party at the home of
Shirley Brown with the moth-
ers as guests. The comment for achievement day was given
by Bernice McDougall and the
programs for that day, Nevem-
ber 19, were given out. This
project, "The Club Girl Enter-
tains," holds its achievment
day in the Legion Hall, Clinton,
on the above date.
Hall Banquet
The memorial community
hall banquet, served by the
members of the Women's In-
stitute to help furnish the new
kitchen, in the new hall being
built, was a decided success.
Rev. R, M. Sweeney pronounc-
ed Grace. A moment of silence
was observed in honor of those
who served in World Wars. The
president of the hall •board,
William L. Craig presided for
the short program, Rev. R. M.
Meally gave a short address, on
Remembrance Day and Mrs.
Robert J. Phillips accompanied
on the piano for the singing of
"0 Canada."
Short speeches were given
by Warden John Durnin, Reeve
Tom Leiper, Hullett; Reeve
Ralph Jewell, Colborne; Reeve
Clarence Hanna, East Wawan-
osh; Reg, Bell, Goderich, and
Donald Howes, Blyth. Keith
Arthur thanked the WI for its
interest in this project and
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt replied.

The AYPA of St. Markes
Anglican Church met at the
home of Mr. arid Mrs. Norman
McClinchey with the president
Bob Daer •in charge. Scripture
lesson was read by Diane Kirke
cannel and prayers were giv-
en by Philip Clark. The sec-
retary, Shirley Brown reported
and the meeting was led in the
discussion of the prayer book
by Rev. Robert Meally.
Immediately after the meet-
ing friends and neighbors of
Lawrence Nesbit gathered at
the McClinchey home to honor
him on his approaching mar-
riage. Mrs, William Patterson
read the address and Linda
Wilson, Charlotte and Monica
Nesbit presented Lawrence and
Mary with gifts. On behalf of
the AYPA, Mrs. Norman Mc-
Clinchey read an address and
Shirley Brown presented a
table lamp.
A short program followed
with a sing-song, a duet by
Charlotte and Monica Nesbit;
a reading by Mrs. Andrew
Kirkconnell; a piano solo by
Carole Brown and a reading
by Dianne Kirkconnell. Lunch
was served by the hostess, as-
sisted by Mrs. Bill Empey and
Mrs. William Patterson.

and family, Waterdown, were
Saturday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Sidney Lansing.

ed to her home near Blyth
after spending a couple of

Meredith Young had the mis-
fortune to lose one of his fine
hoses last Saturday morning
and on Sunday found one of
his cows dead when he went to
the barn.

LOL Fowl Supper
Members of LOL 1035 held
their 'annual fowl supper last
Friday evening in the Orange
Hall when about 100 members
and their families sat down to
a. turkey supper. A short pro-

Mrs. Knox Williams, Dwight
and Sharon, Kitchener, spent
Sunday at the home of the for-
mer's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ed. Youngblut.
Mrs. Robert Youngblut who
has been under the doctor's
care for the past three weeks
is going to remain with her
daughter, Mrs. William Wells,
and family, in Clinton, for the
winter months. She will be
missed by her friend's and nei-
ghbors and they hope her health
will permit her to return to her
own home in the spring.
CGIT Installed
The regular meeting of the
CGIT of Londesboro and Burns
United Churches was held in
the Sunday School room on
Wednesday, November 9 with a
good attendance. The inter-
mediate CGIT of Ontario St.
Church and Junior CGIT of
Wesley-Willis Church, Clinton,
and their leaders, Mrs.- C. Mc-
Pherson and Miss Darlene
Stanley were present for the
initiation of 23 new members.
Mrs. Funge spoke briefly on
CGIT and thanked the moth-
ers, teachers and friends for
attending.
The November Thankoffer-
ing meeting of the Woman's
Missionary Society was held at
the home of Mrs, Bert Shob-
brook with 19 members pres-
ent and six visitors. The presi-
dent read a poem. Mrs. Wood
led in prayer. Christian stew-
ardship reading was given. Miss
Muriel Shobbrook gave an in-
strumental. The auxiliary will
send a, little remembrance to
the missionary for prayer, Dr.
Florence Murray, Wonjce, Kor-
ea. Mrs. Funge as guest speak-
er, gave a very interesting
paper; several members of
group 2 read Scripture pas-
sages. The meeting closed with
a social cup of tea served by
group 2.
A number of WMS members
attended Duff's WMS Thank-
offering meeting at Walton last
Thursday. A former mission-
ary in Chili, S.A., Mrs. Donald-
son, Seaforth, was guest speak-
er. Everyone enjoyed her talk
and interesting stories about
the lives and customs of the
South sh

Indians with
whom she labored for 25 years.
