New Hoedown Gal Mary Frances makes her entrance on CBC - TV's Country Hoedown this sea- son as the show's new girl vocalist. The 21- year - old brunette from Oshawa, Ont., -has been singing profession-, ally since she was 17, and has won a number of talent awards, including Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts. On Hoedown she appears with Gordie Tapp, Tommy Hunter, Tommy Common, the Haines Sisters and the Singin' Swingin' Eight. Women's Institute To Meet Nov. 24 The Clinton Women's Insti- tute will hold their regular monthly meeting November 24 at 2.30 pm, in the agricultural office board room. Fingland presiding and Mrs. P. Livermore at the piano. The call to worship opened by the president reading, "Lest We Forget." Reports were read by secretary Mrs, C. Nelson and treasurer Mrs. B. Hearn. A letter was read from Mrs. Lowe, thanking the society for all help given her while leader of the Mission Band. Mrs. Jen- kins reported 23 home and hos- pital calls. The three groups will be together for the Decem- ber meeting. A moment of silence was ob- served in memory of life mem- bers Mrs. Saville and Mrs. Van Horne, and an associate mem- ber, Miss 0. Brigham, who , had passed away. Mrs Firealid gave an interesting report of Nesbit—Clark (Auburn Correspondent) A pretty wedding was sol- emnized in St. Mark's Anglican Church on Saturday, Novem- ber 12, 1960, when Mary Vic- toria Clark became the bride of Lawrence Michael Nesbit. Baskets of yellow and bronze 'mums and lighted tapers dec- orated the church and the rector, the Rev. Robert Meally officiated at the double ring ceremony, followed by the communion service. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. For- dyce Clark, RR 5, Goderich and the groom is the youngest son of Mrs. John McNichol, Blyth and the late Mr. Alfred Nes- bit. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor- length gown of white silk chif- fon featuring a sweetheart neckline, and yoke and lily point sleeves of French lace inserts. Her finger-tip veil of French illusion was held in place, by an embroidered brim of pearls :and sequins. She carried a white prayer book crested with white gardenias and a cascade of yellow rose- buds and English ivy. Miss Margaret Clark, Toron- to was her sister's maid of honour and Miss Carolyn Clark sister of the bride and Miss Linda Govier, niece of the gr- oom were bridesmaids; all gowned alike in ballerina length dresses of aqua mist organza, round necklines, bouf- fant skirts, and matching band- eaus with short veils and car- ried baskets of yellow and bronze 'mums. The groomsman was Chris:- topher Hutchinson, cousin of the groom and the ushers were Philip Clark, brother of the bride and David Nesbit, Blyth, cousin of the groom. The chu- rch organist, Mrs. Norman Mc- Clinchey played the wedding music and the choir sang the Lord is My Shepherd while the register was signed. A reception followed at 'Dig- er Dunlop Inn where the bride's mother received in a blue figured silk dress, velvet flowered hat and other blue accessories and wore a corsage of shrimp roses. She was ag- sisted by the groom's mother who wore a blue matelasse dress and matching accessories and a corsage of yellow roses, Guests were present from Toronto, Blenheim, Utterson, St. Thomas, Galt, London and surrounding district. For a wedding trip the bride donned dress of Italian blue with matching jacket, brown and White- accessories and a white gardenia corsage. The bride is a graduate of the Stratford School of Nursing and the gr- oom is a graduate of Ridge- town W.O.A.S, Mrs, William Chambers was named president of the Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 140, Cana- dian Legion, at the regular meeting of this group on Mon- day evening, December 14 in the Legion Hall. She succeeds Mrs. Marion Truell, Vice-presidents are Mrs. S. Huron County Home Group Meets Nov. 27 The Huron County Home Auxiliary will hold their reg- ular meeting on Monday, No- vember 27 at the home at 3.80 p.m, Everyone weleorne, Crawford and Mrs. D. Auxiliary members will charter a bus far November 27 to Westminster Hospital, London, to visit the adopted veteran. Donations were authorized for the CNIB and for muscular dystrophy. Reports showed a balance of $244.99 in the bank. Arrangements were made for three banquets. Players will be sent to the card tournaments in Kincar- dine and Exeter this month. A pot luck supper will be held at the December meeting, when each comrade may bring a guest, and a gift for the Christ- mas party. After adjournment, a social half hour followed and Mrs. Harold McPherson won the mystery prize. Orange Ladies Hold Card Party Huron Lodge No. 377 of the Ladies Orange Benevolent As- sociation held the first card party of the season on Tuesday, November 15 with nearly a full house. Winners were, ladles, high, Mrs. Alex McMichael; lone hands, Mrs. Alex Kneeshaw; low, Mrs. William Mcllwain; gentlemen, high, Tom Deeves; lone hand, Alex Kneeshaw; low, Wilfred Glazier. Highlight of the evening was a draw on a homemade fruit cake won by Mac Falconer. This was the first party held in the new hall. Mrs. Glen Wise and Mrs. Harold Wise will be hostesses. 0 Hearthside Club Gives $5 To Home Auxiliary The Hearthside Club of On- tario Street United Church met Thursday evening, November 10 with a good attendance. In charge of devotions were Mrs. Dick Farley, Mrs. Harold Black and Mrs. Ross Merrill. A reading was given by Mrs. Merrill, "In this Time of Re- membrance". Mrs. Black led in prayer and the hymn, "God of Mercy, God of Grace" was sung. A letter from the County I-Tome Auxiliary was read and it was decided to donate $15 to buy gifts for this project. A film was shown, "That they May Live" which illustrates di- rect mouth to mouth artificial respiration. Much was learned from seeing this fine film, Mrs. C. McPherson had a good display of ideas and pat- terns for bazaars. These were passed around and each had an opfieftnriity of taking what one wished, A delicious lunch was Served by .memberS of Group 3 and a social half hour enjoyed by all. Miss Jennie Irvine, Brigden, visited last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Merrill and members of their family. Jack VanEgrnond, Mary St- reet, attended the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto the first three days of this week. Mr, and Mrs, Tom Woolvett and children Bradley and Janet visited on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Woolvett's sister, Mrs. Herbert Bridle and family. Mr. and Mrs, Roy Tyndall, RR 3, Clinton, visited over the weekend with his brother, Mr. Clintonian Club Makes Donations, Elects Officers Eighteen members of the Clintonian Club gathered at Mrs. E. Miller's home for the November meeting. $5 each was donated to CNIB, muscular dystrophy and retarded child- ren. Mrs, Harley Monaghan was elected president. Past presi- dent is Mrs. R. MacDonald; first vice - president, Mrs. W. Col- dough; secretary, Mrs. Ida For- est; treasurer, Mrs. W. Col- Clough; flowers, Mrs, Dorothy Hymers; social, Mrs. MacDon- ald, Mrs. T. O'Connell and Mrs, R. Fremlin. The birthday party will be held on Friday, November 25 in the agricultural office board rooms at 8.30 o'clock. The December meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. MacDonald with a pot luck sup- per held and an exchange of a 50 cent gift, on December 14. 0 Cox—Dale A quiet but pretty wedding was held in the chapel of On- tario Street United' Church, Clinton, on Friday, November 11, 1960, when Rev. Grant Mills united in marriage Thel- ma Arnie Dale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Dale, Princess Street, Clinton and Gerald Whitmore Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cox, Mill Street, Clinton. The bride wore a waltz- length gown of rainbow mauve chiffon over taffeta, with mat- ching jacket, mauve accessor- ies and a corsage of white carnations. The bridesmaid was Miss Kathy Anderson, Kippen, who wore a green wool sheath dress with bronze accessories and matching carnations. Craig Cox was his brother's groomsman, with Douglas Mann, Clinton, signing the register. After 'the ceremony, the young couple was feted by a group of friends who gathered to bestow best wishes and pre- sent them with many beautiful gifts. Also in attendance was the Bannockburn Pipe Band of which the groom is a mem- ber. After a wedding trip to Southern Ontario and the Un- ited States, the couple will re- side in Clinton, where the groom is employed with his father at the Clinton Body & Radiator Shop. and Mrs. Cliff Tyndall, Toron- to. Sergeant R. C. Biggart, RCMP, Ottawa, spent a few days with his parents, Mr, arid Mrs. W. J, Biggart, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hymus, Toronto, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pen- nebaker, 173 Rattenbury Street East. Bert Lab is slowly recuperat- ing at his home in Holmesville following three weeks in Clinton Public Hospital where he under, went surgery and treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Cooke, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs, Elliott Pinnel, Ridgetown and Miss Effie Johnston, Windsor, were recent visitors with Mrs. F. W. Johnston, Rattenbury Street. Hiles Carter and Mrs. Len Evans, Toronto, spent the week- end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Carter, On- tario Street, Mr. and Mrs. H. McCartney, RR 2, Clinton, left on Satur- day to spend the winter mon- ths with their daughter, MTh, Peter Schulha, Edmonton, Al- berta. Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Biggart returned after a visit with their family in Kingston, Ot- tawa, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York. While in Ottawa Mr. Biggart received word of the death of his brother-in- law Sam Kennedy, Niagara Falls. His wife was the former Laura Biggart. Miss Gwen Shorey and Miss Sharon A. Thompson have re- ceived word from the Ontario Registered Nurses Association that they are successful in pass- ing their Registered Nurses ex- aminations.
