Councillor L. G. Winter
spoke of his intention to attend
a meeting on water pollution
and conservation in London,
and told of his interest in see-
ing a Maitland River Author-
ity established. A letter from
Barry Wenger, editor of -the
Wingham Advance-Times, noti-
fying council of a meeting on
Friday, October 21 at 8.30 p.m.
in Wheel= to investigate the
possibilitylef such an authority
was :read. Mr. Winter also
plans to attend this.
Councillor Rumball contend-
ed that an underground river
from Georgian Bay feeds Clin-
ton's wells, and the town was
not connected with the Mait-
land River. Councillor Winter
suggested that quite possibly
some work could be done on
the Bayfield River. "In any
case, the continuing lowering of
water levels is a major -threat
to all. I hate to see all that
water going down into the lake
and on into Chicago harbour,"
said Mr. Winter.
