and Mrs. R. J. Hammer, Strat-
ford.
Mr. and Mrs. John Downie
and baby Christine, Pittsburg,
Pa., visited her parents Dr, and
Mrs. R. G. Hunter for a few
days at their home here, Ac-
companied by Sally Beth and
Mrs. Charles F. Rogers, they
all left for Toronto this week.
Mrs. Donald Murray who
was with her daughter, Mrs.
Thomas W. Castle for three
weeks, and Miss Donna Mur-
ray, vacationing with her sis-
ter for two weeks, returned to
Toronto on Monday.
Clayton Guest joined his wife
who has been visiting her sis-
ter Mrs. Malcolm Toms for ten
days on Saturday, They left on
Sunday to spend a day with
their daughter in Guelph on
their way home to Leaside.

They were abroad together and
spent a delightful summer tour-
ing in England, Ireland, Scot-
land and on the continent,
They left Malton Airport on
July 4 ' for London, England,
where they visited relatives of
Miss Pugh at Boreham Wood,
Herts, spent a few days in
London and then went to Dub-
lin. Went to Langford to other
relatives and on to Gorey,
They visited Glendalough and,
other lovely points in Wicklow
County. In Scotland they tour-
ed Glasgow, Edinburgh and
visited The Trossachs and Loch
Lomond. They came back to
was accompanied by her moth-
er, Mrs. A. W. Reid and Mrs.
Walter Helps, who have been
at "Enfield" Cottage for the
past four months.
Dr. and Mrs. William Aber-
hardt, London, who spent Aug-
ust at their cottage and Mr.
and .Mrs. Aberhaedteand
family, Sarnia, left for their
respective homes on LabOur
Day. Miss Helen Aberhardt,
Stratford,' also spent a vaca-
tion last month with her par-
ents.

Kathleen and Mary Joyce, Kit-
chener; Mr. ,and Mrs. Henry
Ackersville, Jr., Stratford.
Miss Nellie Zondag returned
to her home on the Bronson
Line on Monday after having
been with Mr. and. Mrs. Aden
Martin, Gowanstown, for two
weeks, and Miss Ineke Zondag
went home on Monday even-
ing after spending the summer
with Miss Lucy R. Woods,
Miss Heather Ferguson and
Miss Ruth Hays, London, were
at their cottage for the Labour
Day weekend. Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Ferguson and three
children occupied their cottage
for the previous two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Feather-
ston motored to Sarnia on Fri-
day to meet Mrs. Featherston's
cousins. Returning with them
on Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Mel
McKitrick are the guests of the
Featherstons and Mrs. Vern
Boushele, is visiting Mrs. R. J.
Larson and family. They are
from Bowman, North Dakota.
Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Heard
and Joey returned to London
on Labour Day after having
occupied their cottage for the
last two weeks of August,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Edighof-
fer, Mitchell, and their daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Rev. and
Mrs. T. V, Hart and family
were at their cottage over the
long weekend. Hugh Edighof-
fer and family returned to Mit-
chell on Saturday after having
been at the cottage and Miss
Loy Edighoffer who has been
doing caravan work amongst
Ontario Indians for the United
Church spent a few days at
the cottage. She left on Moe-
day for Port Credit where she
will teach.
Mr. and Mrs. Harald Print,
Detroit, have been holidaying
at "Holley Lodge", Mr. Prim's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Prim
and the latter's sister, Belle-
vue, Icy,, were their guests.
Also, from Thursday to Sunday,
Mn and Mrs. Lawrence Spra-
gue and the latter's son-iii
law and daughter, Mr, and Mrs.
Richard Stephenson, Los Angea
les, California, were at. Mrs.
Sprague's cottage, Mrs. Steph-
enson had not visited the old
Scenee for six years. She and
her litielaand arrived in Detroit
on Thursday Morning by tierce
plane from Manchester, He had
bean; attending the llith

Hull and Yarmouth and went
down to •spend a couple of days
at Stratford-upon-Avon. Here
they enjoyed the production of
"The Taming of the Shrew"
and "The Night of the Burn-
ing Pestle".
Crossing the channel by boat,
they arrived at Rotterdam
where they rented a car and
made trips out from that city,
Amsterdam and Brussels be-
force driving to Luxenburg and
on to Metz, France.
They spent several delightful
days in Paris before- driving to
Balbegny. At La Pradet, a
small village with a beautiful
beach, they enjoyed their first
swim in the Mediterranean,
They also stopped at Le Nap-
oule and Nice. In Italy, they
climbed to the top of the lean-
ing tower of Pisa.
In Rome they did conducted
tours, one of which was to Vat-
ican City and botanical gard-
ens. Here they found the wea-
ther very warm. They drove
on to Florence and Venice and
did the romantic gondola tour
of that city in the evening.
Next stop was Innisbruck, Aus-
tria, and Mohlin, Switzerland.
Taking turns at the wheel the

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Stephens,
Janice, Mark and Nora, who
spent the summer at "Loch
Herne" returned to their home
in Toronto on Labour Day.
William Greig spent the
long weekend with his wife and
daughter Jean at their cottage
"Bali Acres". They have all
returned to Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. William Bell,
Dearborn, Mich., occupied their
cottage for the month of Aug-
ust. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Vel-
ette, Greg and Kirk, Grand
Blanc, Mich,, were with her
parents from Tuesday to Mon-
day. Mr. and Mrs. William Bell
Jr. and two boys, Dearborn,
were also here for the week-
end.
Frank Peter and family and
George Peter and family have
returned to their respective
homes in Stratford after hav-
ing been at their cottages here.

At Baden-Baden, Germany,
they visited friends at the
RCAF base and did little side
trips after which they returned
to Rotterdam and after shop-
ping here for a day or so they
took the train to the Hook Van
Holland, caught a boat for
Horwick and back to Boreham
Wood. In London they, saw
"My Fair Lady".
They arrived home on Sep-
tember 1, having met and talk-
ed to many people during their
travels and the days were pack-
ed full of memories" to be re-
called through the years.

Thrifty Hippenettes
The first meeting of the new
project "The Club Girl Enter-
tains" was held at the home
of the leader, Mrs. Alex Mc-
Gregor, on August 31. The
meeting opened with election of
officers: president, 'Carol Var-
ley; vice-president, Marilyn
Tremeer; press reporter, Jean
McNaugton.
It was decided to appoint a
new secretary for each meet-
ing, giving more members a
chance to participate. The sec-
retary for the first -meeting is
Katherine McGregor. 14 mem-
bers were present, The olub
is to be called "The Thrifty
Kippenettes", meetings to be
held each Saturday morning
at 9 a.m., with the exception
of the meeting on September
19 when Miss Tillman will be
present.
Record book covers were dis-
eeeSed. An exhibit will be pet
up at Seaforth Fall. Fair on.

demonstrated on how to mea-
sure a liquid. Mrs, Harry Cald-
well led a discussion on "Hospi
tality in the Home", saying It
was an honour to be invited to
a home. A home should make
a guest feel welcome.
This may be done by adding
flowers. Mrs, McGregor and
Mrs. CaldWell demonstrated by
making dining room table bou-
quets. Dianne Finlayson, pat-
rieia Harris and Jean Mc-
Neughtort applied some of the
rules when they each made
their own bouquets. Several
table bouquets were judged,
The roll call for the next meet-
ing is "One Thing I Would Ap-
preciate in a Guest Room."
