Auburn Church Wedding
MR. and MRS. DOUGLAS ALEXANDER PEARCE
were married in Knox United Church, Auburn, on
Saturday, August 20, by the Rev. R. M. Sweeney.
The bride is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Worthy Young, RR 1, Auburn, and the groom is'
the son of Mrs. Eric W. L. Pearce and the late Mr.
Pearce, Willowdale. The young couple will live at

a mint green sheath jacket

sage of orange delight roses
and accessories in black and

A. McKim performed the cere-
mony and the bride was given
in marriage .by Aaron Satan-
stein. Mrs. R. M. Rennie was
at the organ and Mrs. W. M.
Nediger was soloist.
The bride's choice for her
wedding gown was a princess
style pure silk organza over,
taffeta. The bodice featured
lily-point sleeves and scalloped
neckline sprinkled with pearl
sequins and full skirt with lace
inserts. Her finger-tip double
illusion face veil was held in
place by •a pearl-sequin tiara,
and she carried a white Bible
crested with red roses.
Miss Marilyn Murphy, St.
Stephen, N.B., twin sister of
the bride, was maid of honour
in a dress of white lace over
blue taffeta, featuring a blue
chiffon scoop neckline which
ended in streamers down the
back. She wore white acces-
sories and carried a bouquet of
yellow roses, Sharon Lynn Al-
len, Clinton, was flower girl.
The groomsman was Jack
Sherwood Allen, Clinton. Ush-
ers were Roland Martel and
Peter Werbeski.
Following a reception in the
Legion Memorial Hall, Clinton,
the bride changed to a green
lace sheath dress' with match-
ing three-quarter duster, white
brocade accessories, green fea-
ther hat and a corsage of or-
ange carnations for •a wedding
trip to New Brunswick. The
couple will reside at RCAF Sta-
tion Portage La Prairie, Man.

Church, Edmonton, Alberta, on
Wednesday, August 31, when
Frances Bernice Lyon became
the bride of John Alexander

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stan-
ley Lyon, RR 1, Auburn, and
the groom is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Preston Bal-
mer, Felly, Saskatchewan.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a baller-
ina length gown of white silk
organza, styled on princess lin-
es with a Sabrina neckline, and
Empire waistline accented with
appliqued lace, sequins and seed
pearls. Her triple chapel veil
of silk illusion was held by a
crown of pearls. She carried
a bouquet of talisman roses,
stephanotis and ivy.
Miss Vera Lyon, Hazelton,
BC, was her sister's maid of
honour, in a gown of frosty
yellow brocade with cummer-
bund of yellow chiffon, She
wore •a small white hat and
white accessories and carried
bronze baby 'mums and ivy.
Michael Sztyk, Edmonton,
attended the groom. Roge-
Soderstrom, Edmonton, acted
as usher.
A reception was held 'at the
home of •the bride. To receive
her guests, the bride's mother
wore blue and white terylene
with vibrant blue accessories
and corsage of white rosebuds.

T h e Woman's Missionary
Society of St. Andrew's United
Church met •at the home of
Mrs. Charles Bell on Thursday
evening. In the absence of the
president, the vice-president,
Mrs. A. Dunn, presided. The
study of Africa was continued
by Mrs. Robert Scotchmer from
the study book, "Africa Dis-
turbed".
Mr. and Mrs. Ford Steadman
and two daughters have return-
ed 'to London after occupying
their cottage for the season,
Mrs. Jack Steadman and two
children and Mrs. Thomas
Steathnan and baby remained
at their cottage, their husbands
returning to London after the
long weekend here.
