Riley, For a wedding trip to points east, the bride wore' a romance blue sheath dress of embroid- ered pure silk organza over taffeta with a sheer silk or- ganza jacket featuring a rol- led collar, three-quarter sleev- es and cummerbund waist but- toned at front, and a corsage of pink delight roses. The couple will reside on the groom's farm at Varna. The bride la a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer G-oderich; and the bridegroom' is a. son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Curtis, St. Thomas. Rev, P. McCabe officiated at the double-ring ceremony and George Rath, Hamilton; was at the organ. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor- length gown of sheer nylon, ov- er tulle top and organza skirt. The fitted bodice had high roll neckline and long sleeves, A small crown of seed pearls and rhinestones held a chapel train; and' she carried a. crescent bouquet of Pearl of Aalsineer roses and white stephanotis, Miss Kay Sharp, Clinton, as maid of honour, and Miss Jo- anne Harrison, Goderich, as her sister's bridesmaid, wore sim- ilar princess line gowns of blue organza over taffeta with full skirt decorated with a sash of the same material and rosettes at front and back, with blue picture 'hats, matching gloves and carried crescent bouquets of pink' carnation roses. Murray McCanse, St. Thom- as, was groomsman; and Rich- ard Harrison, Goderich, bro- ther of the bride, ushered. A reception was held in. Ho- tel London. The bride's mother wore a turquoise nylon after- noon dress, with white acces- sories and a corsage of Pink Delight roses. The bride- groom's mother wore a tur- quoise silk ensemble with pink accessories and a corsage of Pink Delight roses. . For .a wedding trip to the New England States, the bride travelled in an ensemble of pure silk shantung in almond- green shade with green baroque accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. The couple will reside in P'enwtck, where the groom is on staff at the high school. The bride has been employed at the Bank of Commerce. Dowson-Jewitt Constance United Church, with decorations of white can- delabra, was the setting on Sat- urday, August 13, for the wed- ding of Joyce Elaine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jewett, Constance, and William Floyd Dowson, Varna, son. of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dowson, Varna. The Rev. J, C. Britton, Sea- forth, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Percy Huth, Forclwich, was organist and accompanied Mrs. Clare Vincent, Londesboro, was sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "0 Perfect Love". The bride was given in mar- riage by her father, Her floor length gown was of nylon net and chantilly lace over bridal satin, the full bouffant skirt of chantilly lace featuring a plain lace front, with tiers of lace and net ruffles at the back fal- ling into a 'brush train. The fitted bodice was accented by a sabrina neckline, trimmed with sequins and seed pearls and long lily-point sleeves. Her flowers were red roses with white tulle •and ribbon and she wore a cultured pearl drop with matching earrings, the gift of the groom. BLUEBERRY AND CURRANT JAM Yield: about 10 medium glasses (5 lbs. jam) 4 cups prepared fruit (about .84 quart each ripe blueberries and red currants) 7 cups (8 lbs.) sugar X bottle Certo fruit pectin. First, prepare the fruit. Crush thoroughly about 94 quart fully ripe blueberries. Stem about 94 quart fully ripe red currants, and crush thoroughly, Combine fruits and measure 4 cups into a very large saucepan. Then make the jam. Add sugar to fruit in saucepan and mix well. Place over high heat, bring to a full rolling boil, and boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and at once stir in Certo. Skim off foam with metal spoon. Then stir and skim by turns for 5 minutes, to cool slightly to prevent floating fruit. Ladle quickly into glasses. Cover jam at Once with f inch hot paraffin. Punted about pectin? Two Anniversaries At Burke's Beach In honour of the 25th wed- cling anniversary of Mr, and Mrs. Harry 'Cochrane, Clinton, and the 20th anniversary of Mr, and Mrs. Tom Dawson London, a 'surprise steak barbecue was held on the lawn at the sum- mer cottage of Mr. and Mrs, Jack Wells, London, at Burke's Beach, Lake Huron, The event was convened by Mrs. Harold Hartley, Mrs. Bel- la Hale and Mrs. Jack Wells. Gifts were presented to the two couples by Master Joseph Wright and Miss Christine Hartley. A beautifully decorat- ed cake was carried to the head table by Miss Linda and Master Barry Dawson. A pleasant evening of danc- ing followed in the recreation room. Honour Two Hen Leaving SS 4 With Token Gifts Friends and neighbours of the SS No. 4 community gath- ered at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Carman Tebbutt to hon- our Mr. and Mrs. Lew Tebbutt, a recent bride and groom, An address was read by Mrs. Lorne Tyndall, ,and a lovely wall mir- ror was presented to them by Don and Murray Forbes. Lew expressed his thanks and ex- tended an invitation to visit them in Woodstock. An •address was read by Jack Tebbutt and a piece of lug- gage was presented to Herbert Oakes, a forraer resident of Clinton. • Morgan Jones made the presentation on behalf of the neighbours. Mr. Oakes made a suitable reply. The evening was spent play- ing euchre and lunch was ser- ved by the ladies. Emilia McClinchey Funeral service was held on Monday, August 15, from the Ball and Mutoh funeral home, 153 High Street, Clinton, by the Rev. J. A. McKim, Clinton, for Emeli'a (Emma) Zaphe, wi- dow of the late William Robert McClinchey, who died on Fri- day, August 12, in Clinton Pub- lic Hospital, after lengthy ill- ness. Pall-bearers were Gordon, Sydney and William Henry, Bruce and Orville McClinchey, and Campbell McKinley. Flow- er-hearers were Milton, Paul, Barry, Robert: and Larry Me-' Clinchey, Garry Butler, Jim- mie Cox and Carl Finkbeiner. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery. Mrs. McClinchey was born In Bayfiekl on November 4, 1883. She was main-led to the late William Robert McClinchey, and lived in the Zurich district for a number of years, as well as in the Holmesville district. She was a member of Holmes- vile United Church. Surviving are seven sons, Carl, Elmer and George, Clin- ton; Albert, Goderich; Jack, Zurich; Clifford, Ottawa and William, London; four daugh- ters, Mrs. Russel (Myrtle) Blackwell, London; Mrs. Paul (Marie) Dausman, Bristol, In- diana; Mrs. Lloyd (Phyllis) Butler and Mrs, James' (Em- ma) Cox, Clinton; one brother, William Zaphe, Saskatoon, Sask.; one sister, Mrs. Louise Kennedy, Point Edward; 31 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Friends and relatives attend- ed the funeral from Preston, Detroit, Endiana, London, Grand Bend, Monkton and Au- burn, as well as from the sur- rounding district, Taylor-Johnston St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church manse, Clinton, was the setting, on Monday, August 1, when Grace Irene Johnston, Echnonton, exchanged vows with Elden Herbert Taylor, Edmonton and RCAF Station Clinton. The Rev. D, J. Lane performed the double ring ceremony. The bride is' the daughter of the late Mr. and, Mrs. Norman. Christie, Stettler, Alberta, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Taylor, Ed- monton. The bride wore a pastel pink brocade sheath with pink or- ganza overskirt, white meces- sories and corsage of pink ros- es, She was attended by Miss Teri Johnston, Duncan, BC, as Tale! of honour, wearing a New Liberal Director Bruce Powe, 35, Toronto, is the executive director of 'the Ontario Liberal Association.
