Mrs, Charles Williams and MIDDLETON 60th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mid- dleton were among the 250 guests who attended. the dia- mond wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs R. B. Paterson; Tara, held at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Bowden, Port In excellent health, Mr. and Mrs. Paterson appeared even friskier 'than at their golden wedding celebration in 1950. Mr. Paterson is an honorary life member of the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association and a pioneer of that breed in Northern Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Paterson received a, mes- sage of congratulations from the Queen as well as many beautiful and useful gifts. Mr. Paterson still enjoys moose hunting and fishing in far northern regions. Baking Sale Cancelled The Women's Auxiliary of St. James Church, Middleton, has decided to cancel their bak- ing sale scheduled to be held by kind permission of Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner in her home in Hayfield on Saturday, August 6. The members are asked to kindly give a cash equivalent instead., which seems 'to be more feasible in this very busy harvest season. Infant Baptism The Rev. E. J. B. Master David Brown, remained with his grandparents for a longer visit, Memorial The annual memorial service at Hope Chapel Cemetery, Huls lett Township., was held on the grounds last Sunday with Rev. H. Funge, of Londesboro, in Charge. George Cowan, paid tribute to a fallen soldier, the late Norman Hunking, and placed a wreath in his memory for giving the supreme sacrifi- fice for his country. Vacation Bible School The Auburn Daily Vacation Bible School held final classes Saturday morning when par- ents and friends gathered in Knox Presbyterian Church to hear the children give a short account of their school. Over 160 children from this district attended the six-day classes with guests from Ottawa, Sar- nia, Montreal and: Winnipeg. Rev. D. J. Lane presided for the short program and leaders of each department gave a de- monstration of their lessons. The pre-school children were led by Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson and Mrs. Frank Raithby; prim- ary by Miss Margaret R. Jack- son; juniors by Rev. D. J. Lane assisted by Mrs. Ed. Davies an;d Mrs. Arthur Grange and the seniors by Miss Louise Jef- ferson and assisted by Mrs. Thomas Armstrong. Many oth- er ladies .and girls assisted the leaders with the children. The theme of this 1960 school was Pioneering With Christ, and Rev. Lane was assisted 'by Rev. Robert Meally and Rev. R. M. Sweeney and Miss Bar- bara MacKay as organist, The school has been held in this district continuously since 1937 and much praise is to be given to the leaders and their assist- ants vvlho give their time and talents to this worthwhile pro- ject.
