Regular Meeting The Summerhill Ladies Club met at the home of Mrs. John Murch with 19 members and four visitors present. The presi- dent, Mrs. George Wright open- ed the meeting by reading a poem, "The Garden of Roses", Thank-you letters were read from Mrs. William Lovett and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Crich. The program consisted of a contest by Mrs. Ross Lovett won by Mrs. William Jenkins. Mrs. William Jenkins had a "Brand Name Contest" won by Mrs. Keith Tyndall. Mrs. Char- les Merrill had a contest on "How Well You Know Huron County" this was won by Mrs. Chester Farquhar. Next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Donald McLean on Atigust 10. Those in charge of the lunch will be Mrs. Norman Wright, Mrs. George Wright, Mrs. Neville Forbes and Mrs. Lloyd Stew- art and for the program, Mrs. Ivan Hoggart, Mrs. Donald McLean, Mrs. John Murch and Mrs. Allan Neal. The raffle was won by Mrs. Chester Far- quhar. Mrs. W. H. Pepper Funeral service was conduct- ed at the Bonthron funeral home, Hensall, for Mrs. Wil- liam H. Pepper, who passed away early Saturday morning, July 23, at her home in Bruce- field. She was in her 82nd year, Service was conducted by the Rev. A. H. Johnson, minis- ter of Brucefield-Kippen Unit- ed Churches. Pall-bearers were Lloyd Thompson, Victor Har- graves, Robert Spier, George Clifton, William 'McLachlan, all of Brucefield, and John Rit- chie, Lucknow, Interment was in Baird's Cemetery. Mrs. Pepper was born in Buckinghamshire, England, and came to Canada with her fam- ily in the spring of 1912. They settled in the Lucknow district and moved to Brucefield in Ap- ril, 1929. They fanned on con- cession 2, Stanley Township. Mrs. Pepper moved to Bruce- field in 1953. She regularly at- tended Sunday School and church in the village. She was predeceased by her husband 16 years ago, and' by her only son, Bill, eight years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, Mrs. Elgin (Grace) Thompson, Brucefield; Mrs. A. J. "Aldie" (Doreen) Mustard, Varna and Mrs, George (Mollie) Pinkney, Walkerton; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, 0 Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stew- art, Princess Street, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Waller Turner, Bayfield; Mr. and Mils. Mrs. May Rance Mackinnon left Saturday for Toronto and Montreal. From there she will sail to Le Havre, France and by motor to Germany. In- cluded in her plans are a visit to 'the Oberamergau Plays, staged every ten years by lo- cal players. Actors must have residence at Oberamergau for 20 years before they can take part. Mrs. Mackinnon is spend- ing the year with her son-in- law and daughter, S/L and Mrs. R. A. Hunt, now stationed at Zwiebrucken.
