FLYING OFFICER AND MRS. WILLIAM JOSEPH
STEWART, were married in the Roman Catholic
Chapel at RCAF Station Clinton on Saturday, July
16, at 12 noon, by the Rev. Charles Drowin. The
bride is Joan Margaret Walsh, on staff at A/V/M
Hugh Campbell Public School, and daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. David H. Walsh, Hastings, Ont. Her hus-
band is the son of Mrs. Florence Stewart, Charlotte-
town, P.E.I., and the late William J. Stewart.

Grove, Bayfield, with an at-
tendance of 250.

than one million people in a
population of over ten millions
and is still an area of rapid
growth, There are a great
variety of languages spoken.
Following the original transla-
tion of the Bible into Assamese
in 1832, the whole Bible exists
in six languages of which the
latest is Lushai issued in 1959.
The New Testament exists in
13 languages and at least one
book has been published in 14
more tongues.
The Gospel of Luke in Kabul
Naga, for Manipur and Riang
for Assam were added during
1959.
The Rev. W. J. Culshay,
Translation Advisor to the Bib-
le Society of India and Ceylon
reports that he is in touch with
translators in 41 languages in
Assam. When a translators'
conference was held, over 40
delegates attended, of whom
Dive were missionaries. This
means that the main initiative
for Bible translation has passed
into the hands of the Nationals
and this is of the utmost im-
portance for future planning.

Miss Flora Grantham
The death occurred Wednes-
day, July 20, at Huron County
Home, Tuckersmith Township,
of Miss Flora Maud Grantham,
79, She was a native of Lon-
desboro in Hullett Township,
and a lifelong resident of Hu-
ron County.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs.
Roy Lonsway, Toronto.
Service from the Ball and
Mutch funeral home, 153 High
Street, Clinton, Saturday after-
noon, July 23, by the Rev. D. J.
Lane. Burial in Clinton•Ceme-
tery.
Frederick Medd
Frederick Bruce Medd, 79,
Seaforth, died in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, Tuesday,
July 19.
Born in Hullett Township, he
was a son of the late John
H. Medd and Elizabeth (Bruce)
Medd. Following his marriage
to the former Annie Stuart
Leitch, he farmed in Hullett,
moving to Exeter where he was
manager and treasurer of the
Exeter Creamery.
In 1919, he returned to farm-
ing, and moved' to McKillop.
He retired to Seaforth in 1951.
He served on McKillop council
from 1920 to 1927, when he was
named treasurer' of the '-town,
ship. He held this post for 13
years.
Mr. Medd was a member of
Northside United Church, Sea-

at the home of Mrs. Norman
Holland' on Tuesday evening,
July 19, when she and her
daughter, Mrs. Terry Laird,
'Medford, held a miscellaneous
shower for Miss Mavis Steepe
and Allan Wilson,
Games and contests were en-joyed on the spacious lawn,
Then all came indoors to show-
er-decorated rooms, where the
bride arid groom-elect were in-
vited to occupy chairs beneath
a decorated umbrella, laden

by Mrs. John Cook and Mrs.
Alice Dunbar led in prayer. An
interesting topic on "Challenge
to Ventures of Faith" was giv-
en by Mrs. Dc.1, Farquhar. Roll
call was answered by repeating
a Bible verse on "Service".
Mrs. J. R. Makin continued
with the study book on Africa,
showing the impact of in-
dustry and city life. Members
were asked to remember by
gifts and prayer the campaign
for the Church Deaconess
Home in Toronto. 23 calls
were made during the month,
