Mrs. Frank Raithby enter-
tained in honour of Mrs. Stan-
ley Polich who with her hus-
band and family left for Sas-
katoon last Friday with their
rolling home. They have re-
sided here for two years and
Mr. Polich has been stationed
at Clinton for five and a half
years. During the afternoon the
neighbours presented her with
a parting gift and a dainty
lunch was served to all present.
Meat in the Menu
Members of the 4-H club,
"Meat in the Menu" met at the
home of Mrs. Davies for their
final meeting. Mrs. Keith Me-
ehan led in the discussion of
the meat charts and prepared
the girls for achievement day
when each girl has to recognize
ten different cuts of meat. They
rehearsed their skit, "Making
Mott of their Meat Money".
Those taking part are: Rose
Marie Haggitt, Margaret Haines,
Jannett Dobie and Janet Young.
A singsong 'was enjoyed and a
weiner roast closed the evening.

Mothers and interested friends,

presented with Mrs. Elaine Mc-
Dowell, music supervisor at the
piano. Many of the numbers
were prize winners at the Bel,
grave music festival, The pu,
pile assisted in serving refresh-
ments. The guests were then
given an opportunity to look
over the pupils' note-books,
work-books and crafts. Before
the close of the afternoon, Mrs.
Norman McClinchey expressed
the appreciation of those pre-
sent for an enjoyable afternoon.

Order of ForesterS
An initiation service was held
last week at Kinburn Forest,
er'e Hall for 27 new members
of the Auburn court. The Ca-
nadian Order of Foresters is
a purely Canadian organization
and anyone who is a Canadian
citizen is able to join it. It
was formed in London, Ontario
on June 16, 1879 by a group of
business men to provide protec-
tion of their widows and or-
phans and to help one another
and to assist those in distress.
This organization has its or-
igin at the time •a Robin Hood
when he gathered men together
in Sherwood Forest for' protec-
tion; and based on the Bible
story of King David who band-
ed men together for mutual
support.
The Kinburn Initiation team
No. 175 was in charge. The
team Chief Ranger is Brother
James Jamieson; Fraternal Sup-
ervisor, Mr. Hawkshaw, Kit-
chener; Mr. Richardson, pro-
vincial manager and the dis-
trict manager is W. J. Mat-
zanke, Chesley; district High
Chief Ranger is George Ginn,
Benmiller.
Many of the members from
here attended this impressive
ceremony with their new mem-
bers. Those joining were: Cor-

Memorial Service
The 34th memorial service at
Ball's Cemetery will be held
July 3 at 3.30 p.m.,at the
church on the grounds. Owing
to the illness of Rev. R. F.
Meetly of St. Mark's Anglican
Church the service will be con-
ducted by Rev. D, J. Lane B.A.
of Knox Presbyterian Church.
WI Meeting
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, presi-
dent •of the ,Auburn Women's
Institute was in charge of the
June meeting and Mrs. Robert
3. Phillips presided at the pia-
no. The minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. Bert Craig.
The convener of health, Mrs.
William J. Craig introduced the
guest speaker, Dr. Herbert
Such, Goderich who spoke on
good posture and physical fit-
ness. His interesting illustra-
ted lecture showed the bone
structure of the human body
and how much disease and
pain is caused by poor posture.
Mrs. Ed. Davies thanked the
doctor for his helpful message
and on behalf of the society
presented him with a gift.
A solo was sung by Mrs. Wes
Bradnock. Reports of the dis-
trict annual was given by Mrs.
R. 3. Phillips for the morning
session •and Mrs. Ed. Davies
gave the account of the after-
noon meeting.
Plans to go and see "A Mid-
summer Night's Dream" at the
Shakespearean Festival were
made and anyone wishing to go
on this trip at the end of July
is asked to get in touch with
the president.
It was decided to take the
course "Eat to Live" in the fall.
The convener of the card com-
mittee Mrs. Clifford Brown
gave her report. Roll call was
answered by a gift for a cancer
patient. A delicious lunch was
served by Mrs. Sam Daer, Mrs.
William Straughan and Miss
Josephine McAllister.
