The South Huron Camp was
organized in December, 1955, be-
ing the 108th camp to be formed
in the Dominion -of Canada. Alt •
present 138 camps ,from eoast-to-
coast, with a membership of 1,861
undertake the task of distributing
copies of Bibles and New Test-
aments in public places.
The ministry of the Gideons is
worldwide and operates in some
60 countries of the world. The
association dates' back to' 1898
when two • Christian gravelling
men, meeting quite by chance in
a hotel room in Boscobel, Wis-
one night,' became the nucleus of
an organization... At. that time
members were "all commercial
travellers, but now members come
from all walks of life.
The -Canadian Association was
formed in 1911. Last year 200,000
copies of the New Testament were
presented to school children of
Grade 5. To date three million
copies of Scripture have been
distributed free in Canada, and
over 43 million in the world.
Plans are being made to hold
the annual Fall Zone Rally this
year in South Huron. Zone 4 com-
prises St. Thomas, London, Wood-
stock, Stratford, South Huron and
surrounding areas.
