Cadet Inspection
Set For May 12
Brigadier Coming
For the 18th consecutive year
Captain Garnet W. McGee, chief
instructor of cadets at Clinton
Distriet Collegiate Institute is
preparing the cadet corps for an-
nual inspection. The date is Thurs-
day, May 12, ,at 7 p.m.
Owing to overcrowded condi-
tions, and fewer home economics
periods, it was impossible for the
Grade 9 girls- to make their uni-
form skirts, as has, been done in
past years. For this reason, only
one platoon of 35 girls will take
part in the parade.
Shortage of uniforms permits
only 175 of the boys to appear in
uniform, and 60 more will give a
physical training demonstration.
There will be 'a route march
downtown, probably Tuesday, May
10, and of course, the public is
invited to attend the inspection.
Every spring it provides a color-
ful spectacle, with the khaki uni-
forms, blue skirts, white blouses
and red tams of the girls; the
smartly turned out band, and the
lovely setting of the collegiate
campus.
Inspecting officer this year will
be Brigadier F. A. Cliff, DSO,
ED, CD, the officer commanding
Western Ontario Area, with head-
quarters in London,

Two years later from the est-
ate of Miss Rosanna Tebbutt,
came $5,032, and more recently
from the Eldred J. Archibald est-
ate came about $25,000.' Mr.
Archibald attended school in Clin-
ton, and became the associate
editor of the Montreal Star. When
the nurses residence was complet-
ed it was Mr. Archibald who of-
ficiated 'at the opening.
The first pages of the book
are carefully hand-lettered by
Mrs. Morgan J„ Agnew, and the
initial letters on each page, 4
work of ant in themselves, have
flowers in full colour inter-twin-
ing the letter. Then come sev-
eral pages done by the late Luc-
ille Grant, well-known artist in
this area, who continued this
method of lettering sometimes ad-
ding a spray of flowers elsewhere
on the page. .
More recent pages have been
done within the past few months
inn Mrs. Lillian McKinnon', 189
Huron Street, in her distinctive
print-script. The book had re-
Mained without ladditions for the
past 14 years, and then was
brought up to date under the
guidance of board member Morley
Counter.
