Toned and will be fitted with re-
cessed fluorescent lighting, 'en ac-
oustic-tile ceiling and colorful
non-skid rubber-tile flooring. No-
lan -and Glover, London architects,
designed the bank's new building.
Depository Unit
A -special feature of the B of
M's new premises will be an
"around-the-clock" depository un-
it, which will allow both private
and business 'customers to make
deposits at any time. ,
Similar units -are -already in use
at many B of M branches -across
the country and have proved help-
ful to many customers.
Customers with private accoun-
ts using the unit are supplied with
special envelopes and those with
business -accounts, canvas wallets.
Deposits -are placed into the en-
velopes or wallets, which can be
inserted into the face of the unit
on the outside of the bank, and
they drop down -a chute into a
safekeeping unit inside the bank
where they remain until the
branch is next open. for business.
The deposits are then processed
in the uskal way.
Returns To Old Site
While the B of M's new premis-
es are under construction, the
branch will operate in the same
two-story brick building in which
it was established at 25 Ratten-
bury street on August 1, 1879.
The office was then a branch of
Molson's Bank, which later merg-
ed with the B of M. The building
has been used most recently. as an
apartment building, Present °w-
eer is Roy Tyndall, RR 3, Clinton,
However, Mr, Morlok said ex-
tatrive alterations had been. car-
ter out to make the building
again suitable for use by the bank,
even temporarily. These includ-
arl rernoving some partitions,
Rfrencthening the floors and walls,
installing new flooring and light-
int; fixtures and complete redec-
oration.
Service to customers will con-
tinue uninterrupted, sine the
temporary °Mee is equipped with
full banking facilities, he added.
It has three tellers wickets, one
more than the present office, and
a coupon booth for safety-depos-
it-box cuss oilers,
An interesting sidelight is that
the -branch's original vault will be
used. Mr. Morlok said that al-
though the vault had first been
used 81 years ago, it is VII, in
very geed et:audition and is Com-
parable to that in the present of-
rice.
