and costs Li Clinton court yester-
day by Magistrate Glen Hays, on
a charge of drunkenness to which
she pleaded guilty. The wine she
had consumed had been purchas-
ed, by Kenneth Dutot, 20-years-
old, from the liquor store in
Stratford, where he had signed a
statement that he was' of age.
Pleading guilty to "a charge of
obtaining liquor unlawfully, con-
trary to the Liquor Control Act,
Mr. Dutot was fined $100 and
costs. He had made purchases
twice on March 29 in the Strat-
ford store, the first time in the
presence of two other boys under

Grant To $100
For Spring Show
Reeve Ivan Forsyth conducted
the Tuckersmith municipal coun-
cil meeting in Seaforth town hall
on April 5. All members were
present, and granted Huron Cen-
tral Agricultural Society with a
grant of $100 for 1960 Clinton
Spring Show; A delegation con-
sisting of William Pepper and
George Turner, had made the re-
quest for this grant.

by-law was passed, and the clerk
was instructed to apply for pro-

Wins Fairholme Trophy
At Local Bowling Alley
For the past three Wednesday
evenings, 16 doubles teams have
been bowling off for the Fair-
holme Dairy Trophy,
Dave Reid and Harold Black
won the third annual tournament,
with total points of 4,613 in nine
games bowled.
Other teams and their total for

Magistrate Hays warned him
that taking a false affidavit was
a serious piece of business and it
was "absolutely reprehensible to
supply liquor to girls under-age".
The 'teen-age girl was picked
up by Clinton police, intoxicated
in a Clinton restaurant, and re-
turned to her home. Magistrate
Hays commented that "You run
the T4sk of the father of one of
those girls taking you by the
scruff of the neck and giving you
the 'treatment you deserve,"
Hays warned the girl not to let
this sort of thing 'happen again,
"We don't have girls up on drunk
charges in Huron County," he
said. Mr. Hays requested that the
girl's name not be used in news-
paper reports of the court ses-
sion.
Corporal Herbert Howe, 27,
member of the RCAF was fined'
$75 and 'costs on an impaired
driving charge. A rear-end col-
lission occurred on Victoria Street
in Clinton on February 19, involv-
ing a car the corporal was. driv-
ing. He was warned that a sec-
ond' conviction would bring a
minimum of 14 days in jail. A
charge of careless driving was not
pressed.
A charge of cruelty to a dog,
laid over from last fall, against
Mrs. Clifford Epps, Clinton, was
dismissed. Crown Attorney Bush-
field, Winghaxn elected not to re--
open the trial. Since the hearing
last year, Magistrate D. E, Hol-
mes had died, and the crown at-
torney then is now Huron's Magi-
strate.
Lawrence L e B e a u pleaded
guilty to careless driving on
March 9, when his car struck the
rear of a car driven by Ray Du-
puis, Clinton. After commenting
that some stop signals on cars
showed better than others, Magi-
strate 'Hays fined hitt. $15 and
costs.

Nancy Holmes, wife of Jack Hol-
mes, partner in Fairholme Dairy,
and Mrs. Marion Deline.

Fairholme Trophy, donated by

Mrs. B. Fair won a consolation
prize for the lowest score of the
year, and during the evening door
prizes of nylons and coffee spoons
were won by 18 ladies.
Members of the Bowling Lea-
gue very •ably supplied the even-
ing's entertdinment, with skits,
songs, dances, and take-offs of
TV commercials, winch was great-
ly enjoyed by all, and Mrs. Deline
was their pianist. Mrs. J. Bar-
nett also showed very interesting
colored slides of a trip to Mexico,
which she and her family had re-
cently enjoyed.
