Budd Boyes Wins Two Singing Trophies
Proud holder of two major trophies earned at the
Kiwanis Music Festival in Stratford last Friday and Satur-
day is Budd Boyes, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Boyes, 308 Ontario Street, Clinton. Above is the
Medlyn intermediate vocal trophy for best tenor in 20
and 'under classes; and the second award he brought
home was the Reginald Green trophy for 17 and under
tenors. Also, the young man is richer by $25--the Kist

Guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank 1VIcCullough at the week-
end were their daughter, Miss
Frances McCullough, Toronto, and
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Bezeau, Kit-
chener.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Steepe
were in London on Sunday, visit-
ing Mrs'. Steepe's mother, Mrs.
Magee, Woodstock, who is a pa-
tient in Victoria Hospital.
Miss Mary Helen. Yeo of the
Stratford Teachers College, has
accepted a •teaching position with
the Goderich Township School
Area, as the junior teacher in the
new Holmesville school. Miss Yeo
is the eldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Yea.
WMS and WA
Holmesville United Church Wo-
man's Missionary Society met in
the basement of the church on
Tuesday, April 12. Mrs. John
Grigg was in charge of the pro-
gram. Scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. Barrie Walter. Mrs. John
Grigg led in a devotional period,
with responses being given by the
members. Mrs. John. Huller led
in prayer.
Roll call was answered with an
Easter thought. Reports' of the
Huron County WMS. Presbyterial
held in Seaforth on March 24
were given by Mrs. Frank McCul-
lough and Mrs. Lloyd Bond.
When the president, Mrs, Jack
Yeo took charge, plans wete made
for the Spring Thankoffering
meeting to be held in the church
an April 28, with Miss Rena Fen-
nell, Seaforth, as the guest speak-
er. A poem was given by Mrs.
Reg. Miller and Mrs. Harry Cud-
snore gave an Easter reading. The
meeting closed with prayer , by
Mrs. John Grigg.
The Woman's Association fol-
lowed, with the president, Mrs,
Reg. Miller in the chair. Scripture
lesson was read hy. Mrs. Miller
and the lesson thoughts were giv-
en by Mrs. Ninian Heard. An

Concert in Clinton
Rural and turban folk gathered
together to fill to capacity the
Ontario Street United Church
auditorium Friday night, April 8.
the occasion being the third 'an-
nual variety concert sponsored by
Huron District of Ontario Fmm
ers' Union.
Five locals combined their tal-
ents in the form of vocal num-
bers, Scotch dances, readings, step
and tap dancing, and musical sel-
ections, to provide a program of
excellent calibre.
Stanley local, misted by Gode-
rich Township, delighted the aud-
ience with their fashion show, "a
collection direct from Paris." The,
models Whe, had been busy with
needle and. thread, -as well as their
sense of humour and imagination,
modelled ensembles for all occas-
ions, from theatre going gowns to
a "jump-suit", ideal for hoeing
,The committee, headed by Carl
Dalton, Seaforth, did an excellent
job in arranging this show.
United Church WA meeting on
April 27 was. accepted,
The treasurer's report was giv-
en -by Mrs. Frank McCullough,
Delegates to the annual WA Pres-
bytery meeting in Goderieh on
May 4 are Mrs. Edward Grigg
and Mrs. Frank McCullough. Two
cancer films were shown with
Douglas Norman and Ted McCul-
lough in charge of the projector.
Hostesses for the day were Mrs.
Wilfred Biggin, Mrs. Carman
Tebbubt and Mrs. Harry Williams.

SS 4 Farm Forum

The final -meeting pf the seas-
on for SS 4 Farm Forum was
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Merrill, with 24 present.
Following the radio broadcast a
questionaire was filled in.
• Some time was then taken for
the showing of films, with Ray
Bird at the projector. The films
were quite instructive, including
a good cancer film.
The game of v'500" was played,
and lunch was served by the lad-
ies, with sandwiches, cake, pie
and ice cream on the rnenue.
Mrs. James Lobb and Mrs Ira
Merrill were appointed to plan for
'the first fall meeting.
