abra made a festive setting in the
lounge and dining hall of Ontario
Street United' Church on Satur-
day, April 9, for the 40th wedding
anniversary celebration of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Lobb, 45 Orange
Street, Clinton. About 50 friends
and relatives of the happy couple
were guests for the auspicious ev-
ent, arranged by the family: Mr.
and Mrs. Derrald (Donna) Fer-
min; Mr. and Mrs. Ben (Mildred)
Young and their families.
A delightful buffet dinner was
served from long taoles decorated
in a pink and yellow colour
scheme, and centred with a 3-tier
wedding cake.
Supporting Mr. and Mrs. Lobb
at the head table were her broth-
er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
James Lovett: and his sister, Mrs.
Joy Williamson, who attended
them on their wedding day in
1920.
Harry Sturdy spoke a few
words, concluding with words of
appreciation. James Lovett spoke
briefly, recalling a few incidents
of 40 years ago. A sing-song fol-
lowed with Mrs. George Hender-
son accompanying on the piano,
led by Ben Young, who also acted
as master of ceremonies.
Games and reminiscing during
the evening followed, and good
wishes were extended to the cele-
brants with a shower of greeting
cards and gifts showing the high
esteem in which they are held by
a host of friends.

Recent Goderich Event
Members of the Huronic Rebek-
ah Lodge, Clinton, attended an ey-
ening in Goderich last week, when
Mrs. H, J. Bowman, Ingersoll, the
warden of the Rebekah Assembly
paid trier official visit. Lodge
members from Exeter also atten-
ded,
Guests attended from N'apanee,
Belleville, Oakville, Woodstock,
St. Catherines, London, Clinton
and Stratford.

Anglican church on Good Friday,

WA Meets
Mrs. Fred Middleton was hos-
tess' for the April meeting of the
Woman's Association of Sit. James
Anglican church, held on Wednes-
day, April 6, with 18 members
and two visitors present.
The president, Mrs. Milton
Steepe, !ipened the meeting with
the inspiring poem "I never cease
to marvel." St. John 13: 32-42
was read by Mrs. Dutot. Open-
ing prayers Were followed by the
secretary's report by Mrs. Keith
Miller, the financial by Mrs, Du-
tot, the Dorcas report by Mrs. J.
Grigg.
Mrs. Stewart Middleton gave a
reading "What does Easter mean
to you."
It was decided to contribute $5
to the Cancer Fund. Canadian
Cancer Society films are available
for showing at any time.
The society acknowledged with
thanks two kind •invitations; i.e.
one from St. Paul's WA, Clinton,
to hear the candidates' Secretary
on Tuesday, April 19, 'the other
from the WMS of Hohnesville
United Church, on April 28.
.The president announced the
annual meeting of the WA of
Huron Diocese to be held in Lon-
don, April 26 and 27 .., this year
celebrates the 75th anniversary of
this organization,
Owing to the lateness of the
season and the, prevalence of
mumps no social evening will be
held at present.
Mrs, Ray Wise gave a humor-

film entitled "South Africa and
its Problems", was shown and was
very informative; especially so 'as
it followed up Mrs. Steepe's lec-
ture on the study book the prev-
ious meeting:

Spring." These also were much
enjoyed.

In Stratford last Wednesday,
Jack Nethery, RR 1, Auburn, was
fined $150 and costs by Magis-
trate A. F, Cook, after pleading
guilty to impaired driving and to
driving while his licence was sus-
pended. Mr. Nethery said he had
not 'had a licence to drive for
nine years, and explained to the
magistrate that he would not have
driven if he had not' been drink-
ing, The Nethery car travelled
75 miles an houn through a 40-
.mile an hour zone` in Mitchell,
Annie Morgan; Goderich, was
fined $300 and costs, or twc mon-
ths in jail, when she pleaded guil-
ty last Thursday in court at the
county town-,to a charge of illeg-
ally keeping liquor for sale.
