The evening was spent in playing progressive eu- chre with Mrs. Norman McClin- chey, Mrs. Kenneth Patterson and Mrs, Sidney Lansing in charge. St. Mark's Guild St. Mark's Anglican Guild met at the home of Mrs. Gordon 13., Taylor. The hostess presided, and opening prayer was by Mrs. Meal- ly. Scripture was read by Mrs, Thomas Haggitt, The Study Book was taken by Mrs. John Daer on the subject mission work in India. A very in- formative and instructive 'address on "Why I am a protestant", was given by Rev. R. Meally. A read- ing, "No sect in Heaven," was' read by Mrs. George Schneider. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, president, took charge. Minutes were read by the secretary, Mrs. Ed. Davies and approved as read. The finan- cial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Gordon Taylor. A discussion period followed on the church finances. Mrs. John McNichol gave a re- port of the recent meeting of the Cancer Society at Blyth. Roll call was answered by a favourite Bib- le verse and Rev. Meally dosed the meeting with prayer. A successful auction was held and a dainty lunch was served by Mrs. Taylor, assited by Mrs. Ed. Davies. Young People's Society The Young People's Society of Knox Presbyterian Church met in the Sabbath school room of the church with Rev. D. J. Lane in, charge. Minutes were read by Helen Youngblut:. An invitation to attend the Young People'e meeting at Clinton on March 24, art 8 p.m. was accepted, and a donation will be sent to the Syn- od to 'help with Young People's work. R. • J, Powell. Followleg their marriage they took up residence on the, family farm at Donnybrook and resided there until they retired last year and moved to the village of Auburn, Mr. Chamney is the son of -the late Mr. and Mrs..john. .Chainney.. He was. born in West Wawanosh in 1886 And attended Donnybrook .school.. Mrs. Cham- ney (formerly Clara Craig) is the daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs, Edward Craig. She was born in West Wawanosh Township (in 1891) and attended Fordyce school, They are members of l<nox United' Church, Auburn, 4114,11/r$. Chainney is a life :member of the Womans' IVLieSierare Society, a gift from the Donnybrook 'MI.'S last year where she had been a de- voted member for many years. She is also . a member of the Women's Institute, Mr. Chamney is a mem- ber of the Masonic lodge, and a keen lover of good horses, •They have a family of one deo, ghter and five eons who were all Present for the occasion; Mrs. Verna Doerr, Niagara Falls; El- win, Wingham; Herman, Windsor; Graham, Goderich; Stuart, RR 2, Auburn and Gordon, Auburn; 27 ,grandohildree and nine great- grandchildren, Mrs. Chamney has two brothers, William J. It was decided to go on Daylight Saving Time on April 23 and back to Standard Time on October 29. Hugh C. Wilson united in mar- riage Helena Elisabeth Gwyn and Douglas Young, Pert Albert. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gwyn, East Wa- wanosh, And the groom is the son of Mrs, James Yeung and the late Mr, Young, Port Albert. The bride chose a floor-length gown of nylon and chantilly lace.H The bodice was embroidered with cup sequins and simulated years, The skirt featured tiers of lace and net with scalloped lace hem- line. A cornet of white' net, lily- of-the-valley and sequins held her fingertip veil. She carried a cas- cade bouquet of red roses and white 'mums, Miss Marie Andrews was brides- maid wearing a strapless blue ny- lon ehiffon-oeer-taffeta gown, shirred bodice and cummerbund with matching jacket, gloves, hat and shoes, and a nosegay of pink- tinted 'mums, -"Ross Geelli brother of the bride WaS•grekenetean. Mayhew, at Thamesville with burial in May- hew-Mount Pleasant cemetery. Mr, Mayhew was 86 years of age and had lived for some time at Toronto, He was well known in the Auburn community as his wife who was formerly Jean Straughan came from this district. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Leslie, Toronto; one sister, Mrs. Milton Attridge, Thamesvil- le. Mr. and Mrs. William Straug- han, Mrs. Charles Straughan, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jardin, atten- ded the funeral last Saturday. Melvin H. Taylor The sympathy of this commun- ity is extended to Bert Taylor on the death of his brother, Melvin H., who passed away suddenly at his home. He was a life-long re- sident of East Wawanosh and liv- ed on Con. 6. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Taylor. Surviving besides his wife, the former Jean Smith are, one daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Elean- or) Danee Wroxeter; two sons, Ross, East Wawanosh, and Bill, at home; brothers, Rev. W. J. Tay- lor, Dorchester; Bert, Auburn; Rev. Elmer Taylor, Goderich. Rev. R. M. Sweeney conducted the service. CGIT Girls The CGIT Group met in the Sabbath school room of Knox Presbyterian Church, with Bar- bara Sanderson in charge. Bar- bara Sanderson was at the piano. Scripture was read by Judith Arthur and prayer by Rose Marie Haggitt. Minutes were read by the secretary, Margaret Haines. -Plans to make the quilts which the girls pieced were made. The girls are going to help with the tag day in Auburn, for the Cline ton Public Hospital in the near future. Roll ra11 was an'sw'ered by repeating a commandment. The offering was received by Dianne Kirkcormell and accepted with prayer by Laura Daer. The treasurer, Carole Brown gave the financial statement. The chapter in the Study book on Africa was given by, Mrs. Mackay. Closing prayer was by Jannett Dobie. Games were con- ducted by Mrs. Wes Bradnock.
