sor on Sunday for his uncle Will-
iam Turner, owing to the death
of the latter's brother-in-law,
George Campbell.

Berthena, Holmesville, spent the
weekend with her sister, Miss Ber-
thena Sturgeon,
Mrs. 3. H. Cobb returned home
on Sunday after having spent the
past few weeks at Clearwater,
Florida.
Miss Charlene Scotchmer, Strat-
ford Teachers' College, is home
this week while doing practice tea-
ching at SS 1, Tuckersmith, under
Mrs. Reichert.
The Rev. and Mrs. Peter Ren-
ner, Teeswater, and the latter's
brother Cy Gibson, Saulte Ste.

lie, Lender', are visiting her par-

week. William Parker was also
with them for the weekend.
Mrs, 3. H, Porker received word
on Monday that her granddaugh-
ter; Janice Pruss, London, has re-
covered from an attack of scarlet
fever and returned to school.,
Influenza recently invaded the
village, but many persons. who
have been laid up with that mis-
erable. malady are improving in
health.
This week brinks real promise
of spring in weather reports as
well As that of bird watchers. The
plovers are bank. and wild geese
have been .sighted flying north,

ited with the, limner's brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.. Mar-

are at their home in the village

son, who was a, patient in Victor-
ia Hospital for a month following
a heart seizure, was. able to re-
turn to his home in London last
Week.

and Linda, Parry Sound, have
have been visiting her huaband's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tur-
ner, Wilfred Turner was also
with them over 'the weekend.
Miss Ardith Elliott, Goderich,
and Miss Joyce Moffatt, Wing-
ham, Stratford Teacher's College,
are doing practice teaching this
week under Mrs. William .E. Par-
ker.

4-H Homemakers
The Auburn 4-H Club met at
the home of Linda Andrews with
the• president, Marian Hickey in
charge. Roll call was answered by
13 members telling where they
get their meat supply.
Mrs. Keith Machan reviewed the
work covered in the previous meet-
ings and told the girls how to look
for quality in pork. Mrs. Davies
showed the girls how to cook
swiss steak and this was sampled
by the members. She told some
of the secrets in cooking meats
and how to cook the cuts that
are not so tender.
Roll call for the next meeting
on April 4 at the home of Shirley
and Carole. Brown will be to bring
the record books.

The annual Ladies ,Night of the
Hayfield Lions Club was held at
Green Forest Motor Hotel Grand.
Bend on Tuesday, March 22, with.
an attendance of 66. Guests were
present from Zurich, Seaforth,
Grand Bend and Clinton Clubs.
Alf Seqtchmer, president, gave a
welcome and introduced those at
the head table,
The toast to the ladies was giv-
en by Lion Russ Kerr, and re-
sponded to nby Mrs, Jack Scotch-
mer.

George - Campbell

George Campbell, a lifelong
resident 'of Stanley Township
(RR 3, Bayfield.), died in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, on
Saturday, March 26, 1.960, after
an illness of three weeks. ,
Born in Stanley Township, Oc-
tober 10, 1880, he was the son of
the late Helena Wild and George
Campbell.
On February 26, 1908, he was
married to Miss Florence Turner,
and they took up residence on his
farm, the family homestead be-
tween the Blue Water Highway
and Bronson Line, where they
have resided ever since.
The deceased man was a mem-
ber of St. Boniface Roman Cath-
olic Church, Zurich.
Surviving- are his widow, and a
daughter, Mary (Mrs. Carl Bar-
ber), Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs.
Ernest Kahle, Guelph, and Mrs. 3.
Barrie, Dunnville; and two grand-
sons, Wayne and Robert Barber,
Hamilton,
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral home,. Zurich, until
Wednesday morning when the
funeral mass was sung by the
Rev. Father C. A. Doyle, in St.
Boniface Church. Interment was
made in. St. Boldface Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six nephews:
Ray Freckleton, Robert Turner,
Grant Turner, Harold Turner,
Alvar Kaine, William Chapman.
Friends and relatives attended
from Kitchener, Guelph, Dunn-
ville, Detroit, Windsor, Port El-
gin, Stratford, Hamilton, and
Goderich.

Scotchmer; prop woman, Mrs. H.
