The early pert of the evening
was spent playing Progressive eu-
chre, following which a delightful
lunch was served, including anniv-
ersary cake.
The honoured couple were asked
to come forward, an address was
read by Mrs. Orville McClinchey
and the presentation of a plat-
form rocker and an electric fryp,an
was made by Mrs. Allan Arm-
strong.
Mr. and Mrs. McClinchey each
thanked their friends for their
kind words and lovely gifts.

village's eldest citizens in the per-
eon of. John Caldwell, on. IanuarY
12, 1960, In Wingharo. HoSnital, in
hie' 90th year. He had been a pat-
ient there since aanuary 2.
• Mr, Caldwell', was born near
Glielpb on. June 3, 1870, a son, of
the late James Caldwell and Eliza
Reuse. He moved to the LonOes-
bore district at the age of two
Years, where he grew into, man-
hood. ,As a young man he went to
Nebraska where he homesteaded
for ten years, In 1900 he returned
to Canada and purchased the farm
in East Wawareash Township
where he has since resided.
Mr. Caldwell was married on
June 15, 1904 to Thirza Walden,
dafflghter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
John Walden at their home near.
Airbarn.
Surviving' are his wife, two sons,
Earl, East Wawanosh,:aand Ralph,
at home; three daughters, Mrs,
Orval (Ella) McGowan, East Wa...

Gooier and Mrs. Laurie (Dorothy)
Scott, both of Morris Township;
one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mae)
Herman, •Clinton; three brothers,
George, Blyth; William, Goderich
and Frank, Holbein, Sack; five
sisters and three brothers prede-
ceased him. Also surviving are
ten grandchildren and three great
grandchildren. One little grand-
child, Faye, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Caldwell, passed away
six years ago.
The body rested at the Tasker
memorial chapel, until Friday,
January 15, when a public funeral
service was held at 2.30 p.m., con-
ducted by Rev. R. E. McLagan, in
the Blyth United Church, of which
the deceased was 'a member. Dur-
ing 'the service two nephews, Clar-
ence Walden, Seaforth, and Lloyd
Walden, Blyth, s a n g, "How
beautiful Heaven must be," and
"Beyond 'the Sureset." Tempor-
ary entombment in Blyth. Union
Cemetery Chapel.
Pallbearers were- six nephews,
Leonard Caldwell, Londesboro;
Tom Caldwell, Galerich; Arthur
Aiken, Clinton; Gordon Caldwell,
Blyth; Clarence Walden, Seaforth,
and Lloyd Walden, Blyth.
Flowerbearers were six grand-
sons, John Caldwell., Robertand
Donald. Scott, Murray Gooier, Ro-
bert McDougall and Kenneth Mc-
Gowan. ,

The car slid down the icy bank
which is unprotected, struck a
tree, overturned, and threw the
three occupants out onto the ice,
in the pool. Fortunately the ice
held and no one -was hurt badly.
The. car was damaged to the esti-
mated cost' of $500.
Church Supper -
The animal:congregational meet-
ing of Brucefield United Church
will oeheld Tuesday evening, Jan-
uary 26.
A congregational pot-luck sup-
per will be served at 7 o'clock and
all the families of the church are
invited. Dressed pork will be pro-
vided by the Woman's Association.

read the minutes and Gerald Hay-
ter marked the attendance for
