June 3, 1870, a son, of the late James Caldwell and Eliza Reuse. He moved to the LonOes- bore district at the age of two Years, where he grew into, man- hood. ,As a young man he went to Nebraska where he homesteaded for ten years, In 1900 he returned to Canada and purchased the farm in East Wawareash Township where he has since resided. Mr. Caldwell was married on June 15, 1904 to Thirza Walden, dafflghter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Walden at their home near. Airbarn. Surviving' are his wife, two sons, Earl, East Wawanosh,:aand Ralph, at home; three daughters, Mrs, Orval (Ella) McGowan, East Wa... wanosh; Mrs. Murvin '(Margaret) Gooier and Mrs. Laurie (Dorothy) Scott, both of Morris Township; one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mae) Herman, •Clinton; three brothers, George, Blyth; William, Goderich and Frank, Holbein, Sack; five sisters and three brothers prede- ceased him. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One little grand- child, Faye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caldwell, passed away six years ago. The body rested at the Tasker memorial chapel, until Friday, January 15, when a public funeral service was held at 2.30 p.m., con- ducted by Rev. R. E. McLagan, in the Blyth United Church, of which the deceased was 'a member. Dur- ing 'the service two nephews, Clar- ence Walden, Seaforth, and Lloyd Walden, Blyth, s a n g, "How beautiful Heaven must be," and "Beyond 'the Sureset." Tempor- ary entombment in Blyth.
