Last Tuesday afternoon and
evening, December 29, a happy
event took place at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. William Sparks,
Louisa Street, Seaforth, when ov-
er 100 friends, neighbours and re-
latives came to offer their con-
gratulations and best wishes on
the occasion of their golden wed-
ding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Sparks were mar-
ried on December 29, 1909 at the
home of -the bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. James Mahaffy, Clinton,
by the Rev. Dr. Stewart, Willis
Presbyterian Chnieh. They took
up residence on the groom's farm
on the Bronson Line near Bay-
field where they fanned until
three years ago, when they retir-
ed to Seaforth.
Mr. Sparks was a director of
Bayfield Fall Fair for many years
and president for five years. He
was one of the pioneer breeders
of purebred Holstein cattle in this
area, serving a.s' director and pre-
sident of both the Perth and Hu-
ron Holstein Clubs.
He was also active in St. And-
rew's United Church,' Bayfield, be-
ing a member of the session and a
trustee for a number of years.
Mrs. Sparks has been active in the
Women's Organizationa.,
Their family consists of a' loiter
son, Bert W. Dunn, his wife and
their two sons, Jack and Douglas.
Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. Russell
Grainger. had charge of the ar-
rangements for the reception.
Those assisting were Mit. Peter
Gingerich and Mrs. Roy McBride,
Zurich; Misses Marjorie and Helen
Smith, St. Thomas; Mrs. J. C.
Cochrane, Mrs. *James Aitcheson
and Miss Belle Campbell, Sea-
