Fire completely destroyed the chopping mill at Birr, on Sept. 21st with an estimated loss of $15,000; with only about $1,000 insurance. On their return they will reside in St Afarys. driv- f ar m Bell an Mr. Wm. Downing, of Lucan, met with an accident when he- was ing on to the road out of a lane. He did not notice a Telephone truck approaching he ran into it head on. Fortunate ly no one was hurt; the heavy tele phone truck escaping without much damage, but the lighter delivery truck was considerably smashed. The delivery truck was owned by Mr. Wesley Bevington, a butcher of Lucan. What might have proved a most serious accident occurrer east of Seaforth when Air. John Oldfield, Sr and his grandson Harry, were riding southward in the buggy and when coming on to the highway they did not see the car of Mr. Laing coming. The car struck them separting the hood and seat of the buggy from the frame. Air. Oldfield and Harry were thrown out and the horse ran home with three wheels of the buggy Mr. Oldfield was somewhat injured lp.it Harry escaped with a few bruis es. The death took place on Septem ber 26th, of Mrs. Wm. Diamond, who for the greater part of her life was a resident of Lucan. Mrs. Diamond ywas in her 90th year. She came out from Ireland at the age of 15 years and lived on a farm on the second concession of Biddulph until her marriage in 1861 when she went to Lucan to reside. Five years ago she went to live with her daughter, the late Mrs. Endicott, wife of Dr, J. Enddcott, ex-moderator of the Gen eral Assembly of the United church. Of late she -has been residing with her sons in Detroit. The funeral of late Angus Ken nedy. of Windsor, was eery largely attended. He died at the home, of his sisters the Alisses Kennedy in Seaforth on Friday, Sept. 21st. Air. Kennedy whi was 61 years of age was born in Tuckersmith, he was married to Aliss Nellie Long in 1899 They resided in Tuckersmith until they moved to Seaforth, eight years ago. where he was engaged in car pentry. He later obtained employ ment in Detroit and moved with his family to Windsor where they have lived for the past three years, had been suffering from was visiting his sisters that the change would health. On Thursday seemingly as well as usual and dur ing the night passed away with an acute heart attack.
