On Friday morning they appeared be­ fore Magistrate Reid, of Goderich, pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined $50.00 and costs or $55.- 75 each. This was the any disorder during the celebration. The injuries how­ ever was not serious, and after re­ ceiving medical attention by Dr. Moir, was able to return to his home. A large crowd gathered at Zion’s Lutheran church last Sunday for the Ordination ervice when Mr. Ernest Miller, son of Otto Miller was or­ dained into the Ministry. Special anthems were rendered by the choir and a duet by Mss Theada Hayter soprano and Clayton Pfile, tenor, with Miss Edythe Walper at the organ. The Stratford District S. S. and E. L. C. E. Rally was held in Calvary Evangelical church, July 10 th and 11th. A very instructive program was prepared by the committee in charge and each participant gave invaluable service to their assigned subjects. A pleasing feature of the meeting was the number of former members Who were present, and who are now living in other parts. We were very much pleased to have with us one of our forriier members, Mrs. Norris from Winnipeg, who was our first treasurer. Mrs. Bennie, who is the president of the sectional part of the Presbytery gave a nice address; Mrs Erskine, Presbyterial president of Moncton also gave a fine address, Mrs. Rtchie, of Point Edward and who formerly was our esteemed president gave a very helpful and inspiring address. A number of choice quartettes and solos were rendered, after which ice cream and refreshments were serv­ ed on tables which were artistically set about the lawn. The weather was ideal which greatly added to the pleasure of the occasion. At the time of writing, Mrs. John McCullough, who is at present in the hospital at London, continues very, ill. Swietzer spent; Saturday in Kitchener. GRAND BEND Mr. and Mrs. Roy Holt and Mrs. John Holt spent Sunday in Sarnia. The meetings held in the church last week were well attended. The cottages are all well filled, but still room for a few more, so come and swell the crowd. A two mast yacht was foundered on the sand bar in Friday night’s storm. With some aid from the crew on shore and the tow it was landed safely. Why not have some­ thing done to the present dock and channel and a new one built if ne­ cessary as it is an ideal place for a harbor. Something should be done. Mr. Alex Desjardine, who has been in the hospital, has had a little set back, but we hear he is now on the mend. So here’s hoping he will soon be able to be moved home. Quite a number from here were in Hensall on the 12th. The open air services are draw­ ing large crowds with Rev. J. M. Colling, taking the services for the month of July and Rev. G. A. Leich- liter for August. Last Sunday a total of more than one thousand were present. Sermon subjects next Sunday, “The Soul’s Future Ap- parell” and in the evening “Narrow Spiritual Escapes.’’ There was a big crowd at Grand Bend Tuesday evening to hear Em­ merson Gill and Tils famous orches­ tra from Cleveland at the Casino. The orchestra was everything that it was advertised to be and will play a return engagement on Thursday, August 2nd. The special Monday night attrac­ tion are now in full swing at the Casino. On Monday 9th, three little Kiddies, “The Tiny Tot Variety Three;” of London, delighted the crowd with their truly remarkable exhibition of dancing. Their cos­ tumes and variety of dances so de­ lighted everyone that various en­ cores were given. On Monday, July 16th, the Fid­ dlers’ Contest, and then on Monday, July 23rd perhaps he best and most enjoyable evening of .the year, when Carnival night will take place. If you have the blues come on Monday. Without a doubt everything is planned to provide all the fun pos­ sible. Serpentine and confetti by the box, balloons, hats, horses, prizes by the hundreds. The Bis- sett-McLean Orchestra has been working weeks to have special num­ bers and everyone is warned that they must come prepared fori one long series of laughs.
