The meeting of the young peoples league of the United church was held on Monday evening with a fair attendance present and was in charge of Miss Nora Follick. After the devotional exercises Mrs. Sin­ clair gave a very interesting topic on “Trifles” after which a solo was given by Mrs. A. Rev. T. D. McCullough, of Kincar­ dine, was the speaker of the day.' Mr. McCullough delivered an excel­ lent sermon for the occasion at both services and which were greatly enjoyed by the large crowd present. At the morning service the choir rendered two anthems and a ladies’ quartette entited ‘‘My Heavenly Home” was rendered by Miss J. White, Mrs. A. Dougall, Mrs. J. Pa­ terson and Mrs. W. McLaren, and at the evening service a male quar­ tette entitled ‘My Lord is My Light’ by Messrs. McLaren, Cameron, Mc­ Laren and McGregor. The anthem by the choir and a mixed quartette entitled “Abide with Me” by R. Mc­ Laren. Mrs. A. Dougall, Mrs. W. Mrs. W. McLaren and W. McLaren. Heinrailler, of Ches- the COUNCIL JDSETING The regular meeting of the vil­ lage council was held on Monday ev­ ening last, all the members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. The Reeve brought up the matter of the un­ safe condition of the water tanks’ built last fall, and asked for a com­ mittee to be appointed to immed­ iately take steps to have suitable top tanks built and placed on the tanks. Councillors' Priest and Petty was instructed to-have the sods that had been thrown up -on-the road by the road graded removed. Consider­ able discussion took place on grav­ elling the streets which is now be­ ing done, and Councillor Priest was instructed to look after the gravel work during the absence of th;1 Reeve at Goderich. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Provin­ cial -Engineer at Stratford as to oil­ ing the London Road, inside the vil­ lage limits, and tho Reeve would take it up with the Engineer at Goderich, as to a carload of oil here, and the road oiled from the down past the school which is under county jurisdiction.
