Miss Olive Wood, nurse-in-train
ing at the Toronto General Hospital,
is visiting for a few days with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wood,
of Usborne.
Mrs. (Rev.) J. E. Moorhouse re-
turnel home Monday after visiting
for two weeks in London. Her sister,
Mrs. Mickleborough, of Lambeth, is
visiting with her.
The Board of Education lias en
gaged Miss Hauser, of Toronto as
substitute for Miss Hale until May
1st. Miss Hale is obliged to remain
at Gananoque with her mother who
is quite ill.
Mr. Earl Parsons, of Usborne, had
a successful auction sale of his farm
stock and implements on Monday and
is preparing to move to Exeter onto
the farm recently purchased from Mr.
Frank Taylor.
An item appeared in the Times-Ad-
vocate last week stating that the
Crediton Women’s Institute would
entertain the Exeter and Hurondale
branches on June 15th. This should
have read June 5th.
Mr. Roy Parsons is moving from
Usborne to his father’s farm on the
London Road south of town. Mr.
Lloyd Parsons is taking over liis bro
ther’s farm in Usborne. Mr. and
Mrs. fiamuel Parsons intend to re
tire.
Mr. C. H. Sanders, who has been ill
in Victoria Hospital, London, for sev
eral weeks, does not seem to improve
very rapidly. He is better at times
and then suffers a setback. It is ex
pected that he will be brought home
this week.
Following a week of fine spring
like weather it turned cold again Sat
urday evening and remained quite
cold over the week-end. A few ven
tured out in spring toggery but most
people are Waiting for finer weather.
The roads are drying up fine and at
present are in fairly good condition.
Rev. D. McTavisli, of James .St.
church, took' Rev. Mr. Donnelly’s
work at Central United chuch, Strat
ford, on Sunday and quite a number
in Exeter heard hfrn over the radio.
One lady within a stone’s throw of
the James St. church heard Mr. Me-
Tavish preach for the first time.
An auction sale of the household
effects of Mrs. Bishop was held on
Saturday last. In spite of the fact
that it rained quite hard during the
afternoon there was a fair crowd and
fair prices were realized. Mrs. Bi
shop has secured a position n London
and will make her Home with her
daughter, Mrs. Cake.
Mr, Robt. McDonald, of Usborne,
returned borne the latter part of the
week from hospital in London, where
lie underwent an operation for tlio
removal of an eye. One eye had been
affected for some time and was
causing trouble to the other and an.
operation was deemed necessary. He
is getting along fine.

Grant, through illness and -trust she
may soon bo restored, to her former

was elected prosidtmt for the remain-
dor of the year, it was decided to
ask Miss Cassidy, or AilJ-a Craig, a
returned missionary, to speak to the
ladies sometime-In May and Miss Cas
sidy will be hero on the afternoon of
May 17th. An afternoon with Miss
